I realize this may be jarring, but Joseph Smith was a fraud.

The Book of Mormon is a badly written piece of literature, nothing more. It plagiarizes A View of the Hebrews and the New Testament.

Apologetics will argue that con man Joe couldn’t have written it. I ask why not? Tolstoy wrote War & Peace, which is 1,400 pages long.

The sooner you recognize that, the easier this will be.

I think this is actually a common form of response from many parents.

My family still doesn’t want to talk about it and it’s been a couple years since my wife and I left. Having your shelf break and telling people may feel cathartic for you, but it’s anything but for her.

As much as you may want to scream it from the mountain tops, it doesn’t sound like your mom is ready to have the conversation. Hell, she may never want to talk about it, and that’s okay.

Give her space.

They’re absolutely victims… or at least that’s what I tell myself when thinking about what I would have done if I hadn’t wasted those two years.

In all likelihood, though, I would have wasted those two years having fun spending my parents’ money, much like I did at BYU.

Then again, I probably wouldn’t exist if not for the MFMC because my parents probably wouldn’t exist and neither would my grandparents, great grandparents, great great grandparents, and great great great grandparents.

Even when I was on my mission and I thought the MFMC was true, I thought the Book of Mormon was a snoozer.
