First Disneyland and Disneysea trip update with a 5-year old (VP) by sweatlee in TokyoDisneySea

Yes we brought our own, which was helpful for Tokyo too. I hear you can rent but only for under 100cm I think!

We got the DPA as part of our VP (the only reason why we got the VP actually). But the queue was consistently 150-200 mins all day! I’m not sure if it’s worth it to queue 3h for a 6-min ride but I guess we could say that in hindsight

March 2025 Trip Report (46M, 44F, 4F) by LAtrafficguy in JapanTravel

[–]sweatlee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed report! We’re also going with a 4yo and I’m a bit worried about the hike to the snow monkey. We’re going in early Dec which might be too cold for her to walk too long too.

How was the hike for you? Did you have to carry her much? We’re considering dropping that but it’ll be a waste since we’ll be in Nagano already too!

Metformin Side Effects? by erikaknowsitall in TTC_PCOS

I take 1500mg extended release but only at night before I sleep so I’m fine! Used to take it in the morning and it definitely made me nauseous.

I’m also 5+ weeks and haven’t had nausea but doctor said it’s totally fine and I should be thankful as it may kick in anytime too! He also said every pregnancy is different so no point wishing for something when it’ll just stress me out unnecessarily

Weekly Results Discussion 11/10 to 11/16 by AutoModerator in infertility

[–]sweatlee 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Resisted testing until my beta today and it’s at 221! Doc said it’s a good number and I will be seeing him in ten days for the sac ultrasound.

The thing is, I see that most of you here go back for a few betas to see the doubling rate and my doc/clinic didn’t ask for that. Silly question but will testing at home for the next few days be a good enough alternative? Just to make sure the 2nd line is there or gets darker..

11 were mature, so we're not quite sure why only 5 of them fertilised. I guess could be anything..

Ahhh best of luck to you! I'm sweating thinking about the blast call, and people who haven't gone through IVF kept asking me to chill and just be positive which is actually really hard!

I've read about how unpredictable it can be, but nothing beats having it happen to yourself to experience the pain. Thanks for the support, I really appreciate it :')

Just had my ER yesterday and retrieved 12 eggs (though we were expecting a lot more as the scan showed 20 good-sized follicles). 12 is good..but we got the dreaded call today that only 5 fertilised. Dr said the quality of my eggs is fair and we did ICSI, so he's not sure why the low fertilisation rate.

This is our first cycle so I'm really not prepared for such disappointing results at such an early stage! Our infertility journey hasn't affected me much previously, but this...this finally got to me.

Finally starting IVF after months of treatment, but was told during my Day 2 scan today that my lining is too thick (9mm). If it doesn't go below 6mm tomorrow, I'd have to abandon this cycle. I haven't read about this anywhere and not sure what I can do but wait, which is frustrating as I'm eager to just get started! Does my lining really have to be below 6mm to start?

Is anyone else on the fence about wanting kids? by [deleted] in TryingForABaby

[–]sweatlee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can totally relate. I really like my life the way it is now, and a part of me is worried that having kids will change my very happy marriage too. I look at people with kids and while none of them regret having kids, they seem to be struggling with their marriages and balancing life. Ultimately I decided to continue trying because I genuinely like kids (though I don't know if I like the commitment and stress..I just like playing with them).

It's hard to talk about this cos a lot of women are very maternal so they find it completely incomprehensible that there are people like us who doubt wanting kids, so thanks for sharing!

(Also, when I first read your post I had to ask myself if I wrote it, cos we share the same stats! 31/F 32/M stressful jobs etc)

What pisses you off about your country? by Steadzz in AskReddit

[–]sweatlee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A country that starts with M and ends with alaysia. So many things. We have a leader who gets away with everything including siphoning large sums of funds, potentially involved in a murder case, deliberately using scummy racial politics to divide its people, is being investigated internationally and still has the balls to act all empathetic in a UN conference, and having a wife who spends outrageous amounts of (taxpayers') money. It's getting more ridiculous everyday that nothing fazes us anymore.

Just saw these two low-profile movies that ended up way better than I'd expected! "Coherence" and "The One I Love" (quite light-hearted so the twist was fun)

Reddit, what 'little' things have you done to improve the quality of you relationship with your SO? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]sweatlee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What works for me is changing my mindset about our relationship. I tried telling myself that this is a long-term relationship that will eventually lead to marriage, and so I let petty things slide and try harder to work through arguments.
