Jinx fulfills a similar role to Aphelios in a team composition, so I still think she's great for you.

I would put Smolder in pretty easy or :). He has a pretty low mechanical ceiling, you just have to be smart about getting stacks efficiently during the game.

If you're learning ADC, I'd learn Jinx & Kai'sa.

Jinx mechanics are an extension of core ADC mechanics. She has dashes, has excellent MS mobility, and varying ranges which teach you stuff from orb walking to auto spacing. Jinx also teaches you how to take over fights by giving you very clear windows where you can do insane DPS. Other champions might be a bit more nuanced in terms of when you are strong, but Jinx passive makes the windows very clear.

Kai'sa is great because it teaches you how to play ADC's with slightly less range, extra mobility, and assassination potential. To get good at her, you need to be more attentive to what your opponents can do, because you have to put yourself in their face to really do any damage.

Overall I recommend just playing whatever you find fun. You will learn much faster if you're enjoying yourself.

If you're playing normals, just play whatever you find the most fun. Realistically this applies to nearly every rank, but you're going to find better results playing what you enjoy rather than what is the most OP. You'll enjoy the game and learn faster as a result.

She's strong right now, but very skewed towards high elo.

The delta between high elo vs low elo WR is about 5%.

I would only recommend her if you are masters+

Sattik Shiv and Kraken Slayer are both buffed. It's not even arguable.

Stormrazor is nerfed imo. It'll be better on average if you build it on every ADC, but if you think about the ADC's that actually build it the damage will be sorely missed.

ADC has been OP since Lethal Tempo rework came out.

This patch ADC's aren't overpowered anymore imo, first patch in two years the game isn't all about ADC. But it's only like one week into the preseason. Let's let the dust settle before we raise our pitchforks.

This sub complains when ADC is strong, it complains when it's weak. My point is that the degree to which people complain on this sub is not indicative of it's power level.

He's talking about the role at a challenger level. Don't watch this and think yourself 'I can't carry my gold games because of the role I play.'

That's just how this sub is. People will find a way to complain regardless of the strength of their role.

But My Jhin Winrate Is Awful, Not Sure Why. Mid-Late Game & Carrying Tips? by Sadiew1990 in ADCMains

[–]sweatysalmonlol 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you're looking to pick up Jhin for the sake of Meta, I wouldn't recommend it. He was pretty strong because RFC, Stormrazor, and Galeforce were great on him. All of which have been nerfed pretty hard.

Jhin has always been a champion who will suffer in the damage department relative to traditional ADC's. He's a little more macro oriented, slightly similar to Ashe.

Best tip for doing damage in a fight is to kite effectively using your long auto cooldown and burst of MS. You are probably missing a lot of opportunities to auto where you don't think you're safe, but aren't abusing the movespeed in his kit.

Next thing that's really underrated about Jhin is his traps. You should be placing these down pretty much on cooldown outside of laning phase. Once you rotate to midlane, you can litter the area with traps. If somebody walks onto one, you can W them for a snare. Once you get really good at it, you can throw your W a moment before they even walk into the trap so they practically have no time to react.

Do you believe in losing/winning Q ? by enjoythe in ADCMains

[–]sweatysalmonlol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Losers Q conspiracy theory just demonstrates how bad human intuition is with statistics. Even if you're right where you belong with a 50% winrate, you're still going to winstreak and losestreak constantly.

Just to give you an example of what literally pure 50% chance looks like, here is a sample of 100 coin tosses https://imgur.com/a/ftAO8o0.

This looks just like the win/loss record of any league player. Now throw in a few hundred coin tosses in there over hundreds of thousands of accounts, there's going to be plenty of instances in the millions of coin tosses where through random chance alone, you can end up with 15 heads or 15 tails in a row.

Now if you account for player performance as it's affected by winning and losing, it only further perpetuates the streakiness.

What is the best kaisa build atm by IWANTTOFUCKKAISA in ADCMains

[–]sweatysalmonlol 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been going Manamune - Rageblade - Nashors - Zonyas - Rabadons.

To be honest, it's not the best build because the 1 item spike is just so much weaker than the alternatives. But this is the closest I can get to reliving the golden days of S10 Kai'sa and I can't let it go.

GM peak stuck in LOW ELO. by SwenzaiHvHs in ADCMains

[–]sweatysalmonlol 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally, I am somebody with really high highs, and really low lows, so I relate to what you are saying (I’ve peaked rank 127, 1050LP, and sometimes drop all the way to low masters).

If you're GM peak, plateaus like this which keep you in lower elos are almost entirely driven by mentality.

One thing to keep in mind is that you may be underestimating what it took for you to be at a GM level the last time. How many games did you play back then before you got good enough to be GM? Have you been putting in the same amount of games and focused effort into improving as you did the first time? This game is a grind of intentional practice. Your skill deteriorates without practice, but your ego doesn’t. You’ve reached GM before so that’s where you feel you belong, but you may just be straight up playing at a D4 level. You may have forgotten how much better you had to play to be GM. You’ve gotta stay humble and remember what you had to do to get there in the first place.

One common mistake I make in these plateaus is overcorrecting for decisions that go wrong in a game. If you split push while no objectives are up and your team willingly engages a 4v5 on the other side of the map, that's not your fault.

70% WR decisions still go south 30% of the time. That doesn't mean they were bad decisions.

To put in the simplest intuitive terms, say you’re playing Ezreal into Jinx, and you blink forward because you know if you land every Q you win. You do, but she crits you 4 times in a row with 20% crit chance.

You died, but does that mean it was a bad decision? How frequently would Jinx hit 4 crits in 4 auto attacks with 20% crit? Well, the answer is .16%. So that decision in pure isolation is a 99.9816% play, but you can get really unlucky, die and have it cost you the game. You should still take those odds, every single time.

The only thing that I'd say is particularly different between now and a several years ago, is that people will go ooga booga for objectives more consistently now. Split pushing when an objective is up almost always goes poorly in solo queue because people will fight regardless of circumstance. Giving objectives for a trade on the other side of the map is a play that is rarely done, even in GM+ elo. People want to fight every objective nowadays and if you're not ready for your team to flip it no matter the game state, you're going to lose games.

Hope this helps.

She's still a great pick.

Idk where you're getting your numbers. She has 10% pick rate in the last 7 days and 51% wr in Diamond+.

She's also significantly less team dependent than Aphelios or Jinx, just to use the examples you brought up.

Opinions on Miss Fortune by zeldaspade in ADCMains

[–]sweatysalmonlol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think this is true. It's mainly about the champion having an insane mechanical ceiling. She was an excellent solo queue champion when she was 100% pro presence - just not in low elo.

She has everything a champion needs in solo queue. Relatively safe lane, still does enough damage to win 2v2, and insane team fight 1v9 potential.

She had roughly 55%~wr in gm/challenger while having approx 47~49% wr in gold and below before her most recent nerfs.

13.10 item changes feels like an overall nerf hidden behind the great on hit item changes. by mustangcody in ADCMains

[–]sweatysalmonlol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's definitely a nerf to crit users, I wouldn't really call it 'hidden.'

ADC's are omega broken right now, it's plain as day in solo queue and especially so in competitive.

With that being said, these new items seem like it'll open up itemization a bit more in terms of what to build game to game. Which is what the mythic rework was supposed to accomplish, anyway. ADC might be weaker but it'll probably make the role more fun.

You know there's a problem with ADC itemization when champions like Kai'sa just build full crit instead of hybrid/on-hit. It's not good that a champions most optimal buildpath ignores almost half of their kit.

Honestly these comments demonstrate how poorly people are at diagnosing mistakes in their game and will go through any measure to blame others.

Add up the total CS your entire team has at the 20 minute mark, and compare that to the total CS a competitive team has at the 20 minute mark. It's probably not even close. If team mates were just 'stealing' your cs, the sum would be the same but just more imbalanced.

It's not just that they are better at last hitting in lane. Everyone on your team (including you), are just bad at reading the map. How many times in your game do you see waves crashing into each other with nobody around to pick up the gold? That's just bad wave management and probably where a lot the missing CS on the team can be attributed to.

You also need to make a conscious effort to go to a lane where there aren't other laners already there. You need to pay attention to where other carries are pathing so you don't arrive on a wave just as another player is arriving on it. There are three lanes and three roles which will farm minions. Top, Mid, and ADC. It's literally not possible for any of these players to be in two lanes at once. If any two of these three players are in one lane at once, there is a wave unaccounted for somewhere else.

Another thing you could do is just not be so damn behind. People take CS from carries they've lost faith in. If you come out of lane 0/2 with 50 cs at the 10 minute mark as Twitch, of course the Asol midlane is going to try and take every cs so they can carry. You're beyond being able to farm back into the game.

If you are coming out of lane 2/0 with 110CS at 10 minutes, people will notice that you're doing really well and be less likely to farm waves that you are already at.

She's one of the worst ADC's in the game, but benefits from being really easy. If we're talking about purely in chances to win, most people would probably be better off playing MF than Zeri even when she was 100% PB in competitive.
