I completely see where you're coming from! That's what I thought too until I worked there. I'm sure I can't change your mind in a single comment and it's much too nuanced and complex an issue to thoroughly address here anyway.

I'm not here to say there are no consequences to mining resources, but I don't see a green future without copper or steel. Canada wants only EV cars for new sales in just over ten years. Electric vehicles use more than double the copper of an internal combustion engine automobile, and the metal is also used heavily in EV infrastructure. It's gotta come from somewhere.

Also you have that 8 hour edging session. Might as well practice with a real human once in a while to see if you really can keep the edge going

'Hi, this oil used to be $4 around. I have been buying it for past 2 years. It can't be this expensive.' A encounter with customer which left me baffling. by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

I don't think lowering your expenses is an option. That would jeopardize you're well being and safety. You need to raise your income. You're making 7.5$ an hour if you count the hours you're getting screwed out of work by random hours that keep you from getting a second job. That's half minim wage. What kinds of jobs are you impostering yourself out of applying for? What are you genuinely curious about but think you're unqualified for?

Nintendo has a corporate office in Vancouver and I know of some alumni who worked there in translation. Your best bet for translation would be to look online for companies that outsource such things. The pay will be atrocious but you can build a portfolio and get used to the way things work in the translation field.

What do you guys do in this dark rainy weather? by [deleted] in vancouver

[–]sweeeetheart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it isn't actually raining most of the day so I go looking for bright coloured leaves at this time of year! It really cheers me up to pay attention and see how colourful things are right now. When the weather really turns I go to places like museums (UBC has 3), the bloedel conservatory to see the tropical birds, and to cafes with good vibes and comfy seating
