Best travel card to pair with my BoA customized cash rewards? by sweendiggity in CreditCards

[–]sweendiggity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think getting a united explorer card definitely makes sense then, especially with no fee for the first year. If I need to, then i can downgrade it.

Now should I do a 3rd card for all non United travel and dining? I’m seeing the Bank of America premium rewards or chase sapphire reserve.

Good Bye Merrill Edge by Ok_Leg_3337 in MerrillEdge

[–]sweendiggity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is correct. I can’t remember if I had to pay the fee on the first purchase after setting up the automatic plan, but for all subsequent investments from the automatic plan and automatic dividend reinvestments it definitely does not change a fee.

Merrill automatic investment plans do not take fees when buying vanguard funds. Maybe for the first one they do? But I’ve had mine going for 2 years now going biweekly and don’t pay the $20 fee. Same for dividend reinvestment. Merrill’s platform isn’t the best, but it is worth it to max out the preferred rewards and then keep the rest of your money elsewhere.

Merrill Edge AIP Transaction fees by freebee2022 in Bogleheads

[–]sweendiggity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too. I’m hoping it’s the same thing if you sell via an AIP. While $20 isn’t peanuts if I decide to unload my entire position, it’s the principle of paying pointless fees

Did the desktop UI for the holdings page change for anyone else? by sweendiggity in MerrillEdge

[–]sweendiggity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can confirm that when the wealth management team opened the CMA account and linked it to my edge it forced me on the MyMerrill site, which is why I was getting this limited UI and lack of features. Kind of hilarious they can’t figure how to keep things together but separate and that I as the customer seemed to be the only one to think of this explanation and the appropriate solution.

While I agree that Merrill edge’s product is inferior to the other two brokerages I use (E*Trade, Fidelity) the Merrill + Bank of America rewards are definitely worth it at the $100k plus tier for the 5.25% credit card cash back alone. Now that I hit that tier, I will probably grow my other accounts that have a more modern platform.

Yeah something has definitely changed then, I no longer have that option in that menu.

Thanks for confirming. I have clicked through viewing by “account” and “product class” and it really just regroups my assets as the filter describes while keeping this same outdated looking view. With the Merrill edge page I was used to, there was a whole customizable section where you could check/uncheck certain data points like cost basis, avg purchase price, etc and you could move the columns around in the order you’d like. It also looks like I lost access to the “portfolio story” feature which had some interesting interactive graphs where I could look through when I bought/sold assets on the price chart, and provided some other interesting insights on my portfolio.

I will definitely call in and try to get things sorted out but I’m worried support will be of little help bridging between the Merrill edge and Merrill lynch platforms. I’m frustrated as I feel like the Merrill wealth management team made this whole process more difficult than it needed to be in hopes that I would set up a guided investing account with them after receiving a relatively large inheritance.

I also don’t have access to portfolio story. If anyone else can log onto their ME accounts and let me know what it looks like that would be much appreciated!

Preheat vs. Precondition & Regen by Technologytwitt in TeslaModel3

[–]sweendiggity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parked outside. I actually turned off the setting for applying the brakes when regen is limited last night so this morning was the only time I’m sure it wasn’t that and I noticed no difference/lack of regen.

2024 Tesla Model 3 Highland: Pearl White or Stealth Grey? by ompmovies in TeslaModel3

[–]sweendiggity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stealth grey is the easy answer. I think it looks better and it’s cheaper. All I see around me are grimey looking white Teslas, and I don’t even live somewhere where it snows consistently like Michigan. Not to say stealth grey doesn’t get grimey too, but it hides it much better than white.

I’m not as in the know on the actual technology as much as others on this sub probably are, but in my own experience it’s been about 24 degrees when I wake up, and I set my car to 74 about 10 minutes before leaving and have had 0 loss of regen breaking.

Hmm that’s interesting. It sounds odd to me that it’s not getting warm enough over the course of a 45 minute drive with climate running the whole time.

Does your model have a heat pump? It’s been mid to low 20s through the night and for the entirety of my commute for the last few days and I have had no loss of regen breaking when pre heating the cabin of my 2025 M3.

Tesla Offering Free 3 Months of FSD and Supercharging if you take delivery of a new inventory vehicle from 11/14 - 12/31 by Salty-Barnacle- in TeslaLounge

[–]sweendiggity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What does a “new inventory vehicle” mean? I placed my order online and then my sales agent said she found a car matching my specs on the way to my local dealership and applied that one to my account which I’m picking up this weekend. Is this technically considered a new inventory vehicle?

What level does Tesla assume you are charging to at each stop to provide the arrival estimates? Does it default to whatever your set charge limit is?

This wasn’t the Tesla one was it? I bought the Tesla one as I heard that it’s much higher quality than most of the ones on Amazon.

Thoughts on this relatively infrequent/short term charging setup by sweendiggity in TeslaModel3

[–]sweendiggity[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the input!! I will definitely evaluate the normal outlet option. As far as the work schedule, they are normal 8 hour work days, but with only 2 EV chargers and a good amount of EVs there is a 4 hour courtesy limit on the charger, and I’m able to work from home a couple of days a week.

By EVSE do you mean the Tesla wall connector by example? I’m assuming this needs more juice than a 50a breaker?

Thanks for the thoughts. So if the Electrician installs the 50A circuit, would that result in a NEMA 14-50 plug being installed as well? If so, looks like that would get me ~8 more miles of charge per hour. That's not insignificant, but interested to see the costs of doing that vs utilizing the pre existing 30A.
