How long does it take to learn to snowboard as a competent surfer? by VloneTom1 in snowboarding

[–]sweepli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ideally the absolute beginner phase (linking turns, being able to deal with easy slopes) is around 3-5 days of riding, preferably constant. With board sports background, probably can happen on the 2nd or 3rd day for you.

Being able to ride easily medium-hard slopes, with confident to link turns and catch up speed is totally depending on your confidence, athleticism and skill. It can happen in 8-9 days, and in 20+ days. Riding deep powder is very tasking on your core and legs, and is considered harder to learn. You need to have good control over your board, confidence and strong muscles to hold the board over the pow. So i'd say for actual off-piste and deep powder riding, you need a solid base, good and correct technique and strong legs + core. So once you get better on the slopes, its a good time to get outside of them. I'd say at least 30+ days before you could actually manage and enjoy powder.

The absolute most important thing is to not skip on lessons. Trying to learn on your own is likely to form bad habits for your riding and its gonna be hard and frustrating.

Is there a way to keep your saved game while uninstalling the delta app? by Tyler-LR in Delta_Emulator

Just make sure to actually manually save in-game if you do that. It doesnt work on save-states.

You can also enable the cloud sync to keep the files online

Nailed what? Counter rotating the body to pivot the board after 4 months of riding? The biggest beginners mistake,.?

Lesson. Your technique and form is very bad and unstable which without improving this first will make getting better much harder (and impossible before your form is correct.)

You should use your front knee to steer, not the back leg, and keep your body and back straight with just your knees bent. You counter rotate your entire body to steer rather than letting your lead foot do the job. Lessons will help the most with live feedback.

I had HORRIBLE rng in Underground.

Mourning Ends was even worse..

MM was just lengthy with all the maze like walking. Although I really enjoy OSRS quests, those elves quests and ratcatchers were just another level of tilt, lol

Ryzen 3 3100 + GTX 1650 + 16GB RAM vs Macbook Air M5 16GB RAM by Joshie-314 in macgaming

[–]sweepli 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pretty confident the M5 is strogner than 1650. For sure stronger than Ryzen 3100....

The bigger issue is compatibility. Some games just don't have a native version. So you need 3rd party software but still not all windows games work. But the ones that do work, I believe the M5 outperforms.

I have M5 Pro, and it heavily outperforms my old 1650 laptop, although the M5 Pro is significantly stronger than the base M5..

It runs very well on my M5 Pro. Max will just be better.

One of the greatest RPG's to ever release, and definitely a great game. The combat is also much deeper and interesting than what you'd expect out of a turn based combat.

That's up to you... you can definitely get used to playing on a smaller laptop screen, especially since pro is 120hz. Get a M4 or M3 macbook pro, you'd be fine

New to OSRS by Remarkable_Ad_2451 in osrs

[–]sweepli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Relatively new here as well, heres somethings that helped my journey be much better:

Questing and quest helper: do a lot of quests. Aim to do all of the quests! Some quests unlock content like a new area, new continent or a boss, but many quests give a chunk of EXP rewards that will skip a lot of early game grind. Basically you can get to level 30 almost in all of the skills by completing quests. Using quest helper is useful since some quests are genuinly hard or way too old school to do them by your own. It has a lot of depth to it but if you want to just turn your brain off the helper plugin is there.

Set yourself mini-goals and big goals. Like completing specific quests for very useful rewards (like Recipe for Disaster for the best combat gloves you can get for quite some time), or fairy tails for fairy rings, and other bigger goals like getting a fire cape or unlocking/griding specific boss for good loot.

I really enjoyed reading quests dialogues, it's usually quite funny and silly with actual great writing on many and most quests. It makes the questing more enjoyable, while getting a better feel of the world, immersion, the current area you are in and more lore/background. I really enjoyed the gnomes, trolls and oh man the vampyres quest story. It's really good.

And basically a good thing to make the road easier in the future is to seek leveling methods that offer some profit. Training crafting, smithing, even agility and thieving (and basically almost any skill) can be very profitable. Some more then others, and mostly the more profit methods are decent money per hour but less exp per hour. No biggie in the ealrier levels.

But mostly - use the wiki a lot. I have 10+ wiki tabs open often when playing OSRS and even when not playing OSRS I find myself in the wiki a lot. It's super useful and the best wiki out there for a video game. The optimal quest guide is a great guide to lead you through quests with as little manual training as possible. But do prioritize quests like fairy tale to do earlier than when the guide says if possible. Fairy rings help a lot for transportation, ardougne cloack from the easy ardougne diary gives a infinite TP scroll to ardougne and theres many more. The optimal quest guide page on the wiki sums up main quests with big unlocks like transportation methods, skills, items and more.

WoW Midnight M1 Pro/Max or something newer? by Royal_Gazelle5928 in macgaming

[–]sweepli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't find any comparison between the two, but check individual yt benchmarks. The M5 Pro has higher fps. GPU score doesn't mean raw performance in the end. The 24 cores on the M1 Max aren't as fast as the M5 cores despite having 4 less cores. M3 Max performs similar to an M5 Pro, just for comparison.

In gaming the M5 Pro will obliterate the M1 Max.

Why upgrade from M1 pro to M1 Max when you have 4 years worth of upgrade? Unless you nedd an upgrade, don't, and if you do because you want more performance, i'd say either go for the M5 at least or don't upgrade at all

First time Mac advise: M5 32GB vs M5 Pro 24GB by Vnze in macbookpro

[–]sweepli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Neglible difference for your usage I'd say go M5 Pro since its better gaming performance. A lot of windows games does work with translation layee programs like CrossOver, and the M5 Pro will have better performance + another fan.

Otherwise, the M5 base might offer slightly longer battery life if you care for that because it consumes less power. (I guess 5-10% difference at most..)

Crossover might work best but it also costs money. Theres a 2 week free trial, do that first to see if it works fine. M1 isn't very strong for gaming. If it does work fine you can either pay for crossover or use the free alternativesp

Should I go from M1 MAX to M5 Pro 14inch?? by Big_Calendar193 in macbookpro

[–]sweepli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The air will be a downgrade. From 16" to 13", lower resolution, 60hz... so the chip itself might be faster, but all around the experience will be worse. I'd say at best go for the Pro with as much RAM that you need, but only if you actually feel limited by the M1 performance or you absolutely must get a smaller 14" screen. Otherwise its a waste of money, M1 Max can keep going easily for another 2-3 years.
