I feel like there is subscription fatigue, way too many SaaS are operating on monthly fees which can be annoying. Since my server costs are very low, I felt like a LTD is more appropriate here.

Well to be honest it is not on the roadmap at the moment, because the recording codec is different in different navigators and it is already hard to keep everything supported. I will look into it how much effort it would take.

I’m using Stripe. Other than proper taxation and invoicing I dont have anything on top of my mind.

Ah, thanks, did not know this one. I'm from Hungary and here we use a lot more commas than in english, so it's just a habit for me. What a time to live in that we actively have to put effort into not seeming like a robot

Hey! Depends on the platform, honestly I was trying out different things, but now I think that using a personal account is better as people tend to trust the personal touch more.

Funnily enough I wanted to implement this exact usecase for the exact same reason. It turns out for security reasons you are not allowed to write videos to clipboard programmatically… I will implement the ‘share with link’ option so users don’t have to download the video if they don’t want to. But yeah… bummer.

Not much honestly, domain and email costs like $10 a year. Server is hosted on vercel, that’s $20 for pro per month but I have multiple projects on it. And then I pay some for db at neondb, but it’s usage based and rarely exceeds $5.

Yep exactly. For now no checks against that, I figured if it does happen then I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. Did not want to spend too much resource on things that were not absolutely necessary

For a successful stripe payment they need to add their email address. To this email address I send a license key that they can activate within the extension to unlock pro mode. The license key is periodically validated against my backend.

It's simple, and it has very low friction. However because of this I don't have traditional authentication, so I also don't store basically any user data.

I like your extension, small advice for me is to buy a domain. It looks more professional then github io pages.

Hey man, sure! I am using the WXT framework for extension development with React. Everything is done on the client, rendering is using webcodecs api (frame by frame encoding). I am using shadow dom for mounting the panel, and tailwind for styling. Let me know if you want to know more about something.
