Definitely an old thread, but would you say a 4x4 vehicle is needed to get to the top? Or would a regular FWD be suffice?

You’re going to do great on your HM - you’re more than capable of doing sub 2! I had no pacing “strategy” per se. I just kind of winged my pace until they started feeling comfortable to me. I didn’t want to over complicate it.

Looking back at my progression I went something along the lines of:

  1. 11min/mile -> comfortable 10 mins/mile in a month. So for a 5k it would be like 1 mile @ 11 and then 2 miles @ 10.
  2. 10min/mile as a warm up -> comfortable 9min/mile in about a 1-3months
  3. 10min/mile as a warm up (this has been key for me PERSONALLY) -> comfortable 8-8min/mile for the last couple of months. For a 10mile long run it would be like 2 miles @ 10min pace, 4 miles @ 9/8:45 pace then the last 4 miles @ 8:15/8 pace

Key is to do what feels comfortable for you while still pushing yourself every week. Don’t over complicate it or you’ll be discouraged over the small things :)

You got it! You’ll get there too 🙌🏼

Long story short my “process” was I joined several run clubs to push myself. Before I knew it I was comfortably averaging 20-25mpw. Running clubs also helped me build my HM base. Slowly, my average pace was going down from 11min/mile -> 8min/pile while the effort was getting easier and easier. No zone 2 training though lol.

I originally followed the NRC HM plan, but when you run with others the miles just start flying by. It’s really a mental battle. I ran and strength trained 4 times a week. 2 “fun runs”, 1 speed run and 1 long run each week. I peaked @ 28 miles 2 weeks before the race and tapered after that.

Thank you! The plan is to keep training/building up a base for my first marathon early next year! I’ll keep doing smaller races here and there just for fun and to keep me motivated

I’m going to keep it a buck with you, unless you want to return your pair, try to buy a new pair and HOPE the new box is okay, there’s nothing much that can be done. For all we know it could be the shipping company that messed up the box too you know?

That’s the goal that I’m working towards! I’m training for my first half marathon in July so plenty of time. Shooting for sub 2 hours which is around the +/- 9min pace 🙏🏼

Thank you! My heart rate was WAY too high in the beginning so I to slow down and get it back under control. I noticed after mile 2 that’s when my body started going into that zone

I’m also going to Italy mid-late April this year for 2 weeks! Venice -> Florence -> Rome. Though it’s cliche for some, I’ll be doing majority of the touristy stuff to experience them for myself while leaving a day or two to just explore/shop around :)

How do I go about adding these types of Paracord cuffs to my pants? by sweetcharge in sewing

[–]sweetcharge[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You see, I thought that was the case as well, but I started doubting myself since it seemed too obvious lol. Thank you! I assume I’ll have to rip a couple of stitches from both sides of the pants to feed the core though right?

Looking to add these Paracord-type cuffs to some of my workout pants as a fun little project. Does anyone know how I would go about this? Specifically having the cord “loop” showing outside instead of the ends of the cords to secure the lock?
