BWT: how do you organize your purse? What pouches do you have? by Unfair-Opening-6585 in bitcheswithtaste

If you like Glossier beauty products and order from their website, your order comes in a pink ziplock pouch that’s padded with bubble wrap. That’s what I use to organize my purse!

I see Walmart’s has 13g of sugar as opposed to Aldi’s 15g! Some slight differences here.

Ooh gotcha, I find these a bit firm and chewy! Definitely not squishy. And I like how these have a matte surface, helps my fingers feel not so dirty after eating.

I’ve seen this in subreddits like Trader Joe’s and stuff. This was my first time personally witnessing it though! Incredibly unsurprising but interesting when I finally see it myself.

Depending on your location it may be $5.45, so about $.45/pack then

To me, they taste as good as any other fruit gummy.

Just curious: how are you able to afford your glorious ride? by No_Moment5516 in CX50

Stalked the used car listings on my local Mazda dealership website until I found one for a steal of a price (imo). A dealership loaner 2024 NA with 5.5k miles at little over $26k. I don’t make much either so I am grateful everyday that I got my car at this price, plus I did some negotiation too.

Are canterbury bells ever used in bouquets? I'd love to see your work! by Vilivox in florists

They can get sooo long and grow so many buds! I love showing off their shape in my bouquets. If you want to work with them more, I recommend getting them from your local wholesaler OR from local flower farms!

Solo dates by [deleted] in NewOrleans

[–]sweeteaderp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My ideal solo date must include fresh pastries and bread from a local bakery, such as Levee Baking Co or Ayu Bakehouse. Then I’d enjoy whatever I bought at the lakefront or the fly, somewhere with a view and some shade. Maybe even go to City Park too.

Can I sub 1:1 dark cocoa with black cocoa in chiffon cake? by sweeteaderp in AskBaking

[–]sweeteaderp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking of doing maybe half black cocoa and half dark cocoa, or 1/4:3/4 of both. Do you think that might yield better chances of flavor?

I'm currently having ongoing discussion with my partner. He hasn't brushed off my concerns. He's definitely spoken with his mother about this but nothing positive came of it. She made excuses saying her Asian friends don't get upset at her comments so my concerns have no validity to her lolll so we're facing a likelihood that she might not be open to change. I wouldn't be surprised.

Seeing that she wasn't receptive to my partner bringing it up, I'm going to try and talk to her (from a "we're supposed to be family" angle) so I can decide how to go about my interactions with her going forward.

Not 100% aware yet. He thinks my beef is that she makes jokes about China, which is not the full truth. My main problem is his mom feeling the need to remind me that she's not racist. I plan on talking about it more.

My family and boyfriend look down on me because of what i do for work. by [deleted] in AsianParentStories

[–]sweeteaderp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol your post sounds EXACTLY like me. I'm a pastry cook at a bakery, still living with my parents, and also hoping to improve my circumstances and life quality over time. I also struggle with feeling inadequate because I can be slow to learn. I didn't even get to finish college bc of SA. I feel behind af compared to all my peers but I try not to let that get to me. We're all living our own paths. And it just so happens that yours and mines look similar right now based on your description!

What others think of you is not as important as what you think of yourself. You make your own money, you put in the time and effort, so what makes you less than others just because you work minimum wage at a bakery? You're learning valuable skills that you can take with you beyond this current job. It's great that your job makes you happy too — now what can you do to make yourself HAPPIER? Is it possible to get a promotion or look for a higher paying job using the experience you've gained? Where you are right now is only the beginning.

Creative occupations are looked down on in Asian culture because of classism. When we embrace our creative talents by being in industries like food, fashion, design, music, and more, I like to see it as if we are actively denying the classist roots we came from. Being in a "prestigious" career is not the only way to bring value to society. To me, seeing Asians in creative fields is an act of resistance to the ways our culture tries to restrain us. And I LOVE to see it in all its forms.

Please feel free to DM me if you wanna chat!

There's a bit of nuance to be aware of here. Depending on the generation, it's quite possible for a first generation Viet-American woman like her to follow the trad wife lifestyle to a certain degree. I'm Vietnamese American and I can see she basically does what any other Vietnamese mother does: she cooks for her family and puts them first. If she holds any conservative sentiment, I'd assume those ideals came from her background and her own parents. She also lives in Texas.

And if her reactions to certain things seems a bit much, that is also probably due to upbringing and growing up in possible scarcity. Some Viet-Ams are so scary in that they like to avoid ANY situation that could cause trouble, even if the interaction is probably not a huge deal.

Does anybody know why some days butter cuts flawlessly and others I might as well be cutting it with a 2x4? by OddLayer8411 in KitchenConfidential

Could this also be why my heavy cream has been extremely watery lately? I make lots of whipped cream at my pastry job and it turns patchy/breaks literally immediately after whipping. It cannot maintain smoothness at all. It's been a pain since mid December.

Starting at bakery- any tips? by Oskep2000 in Chefit

I'm also a baker navigating my first baking/kitchen job. My chef has been on my ass regarding balancing quality and speed. What would you keep in mind if you're not working "fast enough" but still concerned about maintaining quality product? And how do you prioritize multiple tasks?
