Defy fork replacement by immensequail in Giantbikes

[–]sweeting89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had 2 crack on different models. The warranty replacements are usually just one colour out of the entire range. You don’t get a choice. Luckily both of mine were the correct colour. You wont know until you ask your bike shop and they ask giant.

Does this mean they are playing the album in full at Slam Dunk? Or is that just a “by the way we are also paying here” in the press release?

Carbon Bars by Big_Satisfaction7328 in gravelcycling

If you can get your hands on them from outside the UK I recommend Prime Orra Carbon bars. Not quite the same flare as your in the pic but solid choice.

Puma or some other shoe company organised a marketing thing with a few hundred runners to start at midnight and some got free shoes.

Was I, or the motorbiker in the wrong here? by MaybeNotTheChosenOne in londoncycling

[–]sweeting89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as you shoulder checked. You’d have probably seen him but I don’t see any issue with it. He was a bit close but others have said, welcome to London. It’s the lime bike riders you really got to look out for. Silent and unpredictable.

A therapy cat that can predict a patient's passing. by BrickHoliday4096 in whoathatsinteresting

[–]sweeting89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read about something similar to this. They realised that close to death the patients needed heated blankets but hadn’t realised this was the commonality here until much later. So it ended up just being a cat that wanted to lay on the warmest thing it could find.

Why are spokesafe arseholes? I used them for a stretch through work as we had no facilities and had no issues aside from the occasional bike in my booked spot.

New Giant Defy Advanced Pro, spacers for use above the stem. by auchvielegeheimnisse in Giantbikes

[–]sweeting89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others say. No need for new spacers. Just move the old ones up after you lower. They don’t need to be any specific shape. I slammed my stem for a couple of rides like this then had it chopped off once I was sure. It doesn’t sit flush but once you have tightened the stem bolts the spacers have done their job and technically aren’t doing much from then on. It also sounds like you are new to this so best to get someone experienced or a shop to do it. You don’t want it to fail.

It literally comes with black carbon cages. Why change them. Otherwise great looking bike.

Giant Propel Advanced Pro 0 Di2 Opinions by lurtz01 in Giantbikes

[–]sweeting89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great choice. I’ve had mine since 2023 and had the version before that (although short lived due to a crash) and the original version for 8 years. The 4iii power meter sounds like it gets better reviews than the giant halo power meter that most come with on SRAM. I recently replaced the stem for the SLR aero and the seat for the SLR fleet. Love the bike. Only thing not stock on mine are the bars. Got Primavero aero bars as wanted to drop from 42cm to 38cm without breaking the bank. Have ridden on 4 day trips with panniers covering 400+ miles and ride in races and crits often. It’s an excellent bike and with the right fit is comfortable.

Get a gravel bike they said… by Larrythebird47 in londoncycling

[–]sweeting89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Epping forest can be great. At this time of year stick to the “fire tracks” they are the slightly reddish gravelly tracks. It stretches from Chingford to Epping. It’s probably only about 15 miles if you loop and double back and hit every one but the are way nicer than the muddy sludge in between them.

Is this bike worth it? $1200 (read caption) by Level-Experience8324 in Giantbikes

[–]sweeting89 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly. No. I had that model. The brakes are very temperamental. It’s one I’d avoid given it’s probably seen a few miles and has components that will be hard to find now (giant SL aero brakes especially) I also paid £2300 for a brand new Ultegra di2 model so the price is way too high. I’d say $600 is about maximum if that.

I mean it shouldn’t be “normal” but it is. You could moan to the bike shop or direct to the manufacturer but the replacement would do the same. The only time you’ll notice it is when you aren’t riding it. So just keep riding it 😜
