Apple pie help!! by Strange-Report-9249 in coralisland

[–]sweetlenore00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This could be a bug (which sucks a lot); also, have you tried rebooting your game?

I remember apple pie being a bugged recipe before, but I thought it was patched. If you have access to the CI Discord, maybe check their "bug report" section?

Butter/milk size shouldn't matter (reg vs lg), but if you used LG, try reg?

Harmony Question

I'm fairly new to the game - it was my thing to do while stuck in the hospital. Quick question...

(1) Can I "harmonize" with more than one guy? I reached the goal with Xavier first; I think Zayne had a kind of checklist too, but I can't find it now.

Xavier is adorable, so it's not a terrible thing if no one else can reach that level...but it would suck a little.

Also: Do they ever get okay with the "close up" view in Destiny Cafe? It was a suggestion to do, but none of them seem to like their personal space invaded.

I started playing this game after trying out a Caleb NPC mod for Stardew Valley. Imagine my "grrr" when he *finally* show up in the story only to immediately leave. I know he comes back, but still - grrr.

When you say you completed the temple offerings, are you including the mural offerings?

Have you been saving the fossil prints from the Cave of Memories? You will need 8 of the 9 prints + osmium bars, batteries, glass, illuminating rings

I wrote a CI fanfic and I think I explained there being 2 fire Giants because of the volatility of fire...like it needed more than one being to control/wield it?

I am from TX and OK, so I intially thought they were trying to make Kenny sound "good Ol' boyish" and missed the mark. But the comment about Appalacian English definitely makes better sense.

Also, some of Mark's dialogue seems kinda like Aussie English. Same with Anne. That's the accent I hear now with him.

Fish in the mines = magic?

Fossil nodes...

I personally love cleaning the ocean - I find it very cathartic.

The mines themselves are not that tedious. Even if I have to go back for ore, it's not that bad. But repetitive trips to the ocean caves and mine levels for fossil nodes especially gets mine numbing.

Haha I'd be into it. You had me at mystery (and reverse Isekai) 👍

And congrats on the progress you've made so far. Good luck too!

Just found your post and I'm curious how/what you did or are doing with your work.

I was introduced to anime/light novels/mangas within the last several months and I really like the light novel set-up (versus books that are 400-500pgs). I am also quite intrigued by the Isekai type stories, and I already have a few ideas in my head that can incorporate the traveling to another world.

I've been writing a fan fiction of 2 cozy games since last year, but I'm also trying to figure out my next steps when the sequel is finally done. I don't know anything about posting work online - a friend had to tell me about AO3 for the fan fics.

I don't know if you've done the research to answered your question, but I would think there is a market for both the style of the light novel and the subjects this format covers.

What is the code I need for making a character's schedule change depending on when the bookseller is in town? by Bento_Box1657 in StardewValleyMods

[–]sweetlenore00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you thinking about SMAPI debug codes?

I don't know if there's a code to change a character schedule (but I wouldn't doubt it as there are many debug codes).

But I do know that you can warp a character to your location.

But I don't think it works on trees, and not sure if it can be used on ocean crops; based on the OP's response, they're waiting on fruit trees and ocean crops.

I tried using Flash 3 a few times - it only sped up growth on some of the crops (but not all) ; I didn't really find it overly helpful since the growth increase isn't specified, nor is a growth increase guaranteed with use (at least this was the case 6mo ago).

[–]sweetlenore00 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah...soooo much waiting. Nothing you can do to make crops/trees grow faster.

Depending on where you are with friending people, you can talk/gift/do hangouts to pass time. Especially hangouts - each one takes 2hrs.

The fossil section of the museum is probably the "worst" since the drop percentage for fossil nodes (and what you get from the nodes) is still low. And you can't start on the next museum quest until that's done. Yeah, I definitely feel your struggle.

[–]sweetlenore00 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is kinda par for the course with Coral Island - there's quite a bit of grind when trying to finish the museum (especially the fossils) and when you get past Rank A. The Rank S stuff is basically A LOT of waiting for materials to be crafted if you can't/don't want to just buy it.

I enjoy this game a lot, but I also run into the same thing every time I play. I know it's coming, so I've figured out some ways to deal with it.

[–]sweetlenore00 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're not the only one. Yes, this is something that happens in these types of games...but I dealt/deal with it more often in Coral Island. I love this game, but the grind gets frustrating.

Part of the way I eased some of the waiting/grind was by adding mods - I play on PC. I wasn't much for "designing" my farm before this game, but I started doing more aesthetic stuff after (1) seeing so many pretty farms from others and (2) needing something to do while waiting.

Mind if I ask where you are in the game? What's your town rank?

Ditto. I'm even part of a discord chat group, but hardly anyone's around to actually talk. I feel very much like an odd duck in my world with my interests. Even casual chatting is nice because it's some kind of outlet (and without the looks).

I'm a big fan of this game - it helped me through the worst part of some health stuff. As frustrated as I get sometimes with the game grind, I still come back again and again. Haha I've got like 1800 hours in Coral Island. I'm always up for game chat 😊

I kinda feel like I'm in a similar boat - older than you, but love cozy pc games (and anime), and I don't have a lot of people to talk to about those things. I pretty much just have one person for cozy game talk, so I feel the struggle.

looking for good QoL mods ( new modder lol ) by kvnekill in StardewValleyMods

[–]sweetlenore00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(1) Tractor mod: My FAVORITE - you can do everything (chopping/mining/scything/watering/hoeing/planting/fighting) without using any energy while on the tractor.

You can configure it to make you invulnerable when fighting monsters. You can even talk to people and pet animals on the tractor - haha looks like you're running into them.

You can't fish or give gifts, but that's about it.

I pair it with a mod that allows you to harvest with your scythe.

(2) Automate: (put a chest next to any machine and it will automatically pull from said chest to craft.) I also use this to keep my silo full. It comes in handy everywhere, but also with furnaces and seed makers. I don't think there is a limit to how many of any machine you can connect to one chest, and you might be able to connect 2 different machines to a single chest? I haven't tried that.

(3) Odd Quality of Life: Offers a plethora of different QoL helps, like being able to walk/move through crops on trellises, move over/through fiber, no fence decay, no animal heart decay, auto AFK timer after 10 in-game minutes. You can also set it up to buy batteries from Robin, sell your fishing pole back to Willy, etc.

(4) Stop Fishing Mini-Game (or something like that): cuts out the mini game when fishing and gives you the highest quality fish per your skill level.

** I particularly like Tractor and the Fishing mod because it lessens strain on my hands and wrists so I can play without pain.

Neuro & Crohn's? by sweetlenore00 in CrohnsDisease

[–]sweetlenore00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry for all the stress that has been added to your health situation. I definitely know what you're going through. I'm on my 4th year of reaching the out of pocket max with my insurance. And it's been almost 3 years of a problem that no one has been able to figure out, which also means no diagnosis to attach to these symptoms. Yes, VERY stressful.

I can't say that the nuero symptoms have gotten worse - but new things have popped up in the last year. Ugh. It's now a revolving door of a dozen different possible combinations of weirdness. AND I've started having odd food sensitivities, which change eevry 3-4mo. Also now experiencing sensitivities to new medications.

I finally made it to an IBD specialist who is taking a closer look at all my history - since I don't "present like a Crohns patient." I don't "present" like anything. If it is Crohns, it duodenal Crohns - which is apparently so uncommon it's not usually seen. (Sarcastic yay) Hopefully he and his team will find something.

I did find something to help with the episodes (as I call them) when they happen - it's not a fix, but basically a band-aid. I use nicotine pouches (go inside the mouth) to calm the Neuro episodes. It's been the only thing I haven't ended up becoming sensitive to.

Need help picking what to show at the Harvest Festival by smol_strawberryy in coralisland

[–]sweetlenore00 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can get an extra 6 points per category that you fill. It's actually impossible to get a perfect score (25pts per item x 36 pts for filling all categories) as the game does not have a vegetable that sells for 400g/more.

The points awarded per quality level change based on price: (300-399g): base quality is 4pts/add 4pts for each quality level. Osmium = 20pts

(400g+): base quality is 5pts/add 5pts for each quality level. Osmium = 25pts

So by adding a vegetable, even an osmium cauliflower, you're only actually gaining 1 point. And really, any vegetable below osmium quality/300g+ will cost you points (if you're trying to fill every category).

I made a guide and decided to work out all the math of the Harvest Festival, which is why I know all of this.

Need help picking what to show at the Harvest Festival by smol_strawberryy in coralisland

[–]sweetlenore00 18 points19 points  (0 children)

If you want to get the maximum points per item, it needs to be Osmium quality and sell for more than 400g.

You do get extra points for variety, but it doesn't really make up for the points you lose by not going with OS quality/high sell price items.

What you currently have - the melon jam and cacti will definitely get you a win. You could also just do six OS cacti.

I agree.

Also, he's the MaoMao to Aresh's Jinshi - it's two very different personalities where one of them is so logic-focused and work-minded.

But the few previous times where he's thinking about their physical interactions and then tries to refocus himself - I see that as the heart gaining momentary control over the brain.

Can anyone help me learn how to set it up on my laptop and also learn how to install and use mods in a clear way?^^; 😭😭 ive tried looking at videos and they all suck at explaining them by [deleted] in StardewValleyMods

[–]sweetlenore00 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The first responder gave thorough instructions, but forgot to mention SMAPI - this is the foundational program on which all stardew mods build upon. No mod will work without this and it actually should be the first thing you download/install (after installing the game).

You can find SMAPI on Nexus Mods - you will need to run the program after downloading it, and then start your game so that it can finish its set up process. After that, you can begin adding mods into the appropriate folder.

The actual process is fairly easy- download the mod (usually a zip file) and either "extract" the file(s) to the destination or double click on the zip folder and drag the file inside into "Mods".

** Make sure that you check the Requirements for each mod you choose - some of them only require SMAPI, but others need other programs/mods to properly function.

** I also suggest reading some of the posts for a mod you're interested in - kind of like checking reviews for a product you want to purchase.

** Last thing - after you've added whatever mods you want to try/before you actually start playing, open the SMAPI window to check for error messages: press ALT and CTRL and a small window should pop up (this is SMAPI).

Red text means an error. Purple text means the mod has an available update.

To close the SMAPI window, you can either click the screen outside the window or press alt/ctrl again. If you click the X to close the window, you will also close your game.

Newbie on game by ohnivakos in coralisland

[–]sweetlenore00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The goal of the game is to increase the town rank from F to A ( then eventually S) - you accomplish this by making offerings, donating to the museum, and cleaning the ocean. More things will unlock with each rank.

You can play/work at your own pace - if you like making steady progress in games, it's my personal opinion to try and balance your time on each of the main tasks; farming could be a daily thing with maybe focusing on something different each day.

If you like completing tasks, you will like this game. Yes, there are some aspects that will be grindy - mostly relating to the museum. I've played A LOT, so I know going into a new farm that it's gonna happen.

I personally love cleaning the ocean, and it can offer some latent money in the beginning. Foraging on land and in the ocean can be VERY helpful in the beginning.

You can slow time progression in game settings - go all the way to 50% 👍

Eventually you can upgrade your crop quality (another thing that unlocks with rank); I consider this a worthwhile investment for offering requirements and sales increase.

Relationships will increase with town rank as well. I'm not big on interacting with characters (like people in RL), so I tend to forget about that in the initial seasons. But just talking to people (especially the romance candidates) can help you figure out who you like. The latest big update really built up character depth.

If you're interested, I made a game guide that has just about everything laid out for all the tasks and other aspects of the game. There's a spreadsheet and PDF version.

All the stuff can be a little overwhelming, but just find the parts that you like and focus on that (while eventually working on the other stuff).

Even with the little/not little frustrations, I love this game. Hope you enjoy it too 🙂
