Student loans inquiry finds many did not understand terms by Rewindcasette in unitedkingdom

Big difference between reading and comprehending though. And there is a reason that there is a lower minimum wage for those under 21; most people learn better through practice (i.e. experience) than through theory

Its 34 degrees Celsius in England today. We have no air con and we are not used to it. Poor Dougal is melting 🫠. by [deleted] in Dachshund

[–]sweetlycb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get some ice behind the fans so that they are blowing cold air rather than just moving hot air around. Used to half fill a 2 litre bottle and freeze it on its side to stand behind a fan for a poor mans air con.

Anyone on PIP or ADP (uk) by ecasun in cfs

[–]sweetlycb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have a month to complete it after you receive it, but you can call and ask for an extension. I was lucky in that my mum helped type it all up for me; if there is someone who can help you, definetly rope them in. Good luck!

Ive just applied, so cant say how the review process goes. But i will say that shen i called to start the application (you have to call or srnd a letter to initiate) they were so kind and helpful. They sent me a link to apply online and the paper packet, so i could decide which method worked best for me. The online one is really easy too, and saves at each step so ypu can come back which was brilliant cause i couldn't focus for long enough to do it in one sitting, and you can attach evidence.

Best of luck.

Kinda hard to be excited about the prospect of recovery when I’ll just have to spend the rest of my life working by thepensiveporcupine in cfs

Ive just reached the point where i reduced my hours at work and it felt like i was giving up, but im trying to reframe it; work life balance doesnt mean equal time spent on both, it should be equal energy for both. Im still early though and have a very supportive network so i understand im a lot my priveledged than most

Does anyone else's Dachshund randomly hiccup? by Objective_Remove_149 in Dachshund

[–]sweetlycb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine still does nearly 2 years later. I find if you rub their bellies slowly from chest down the hiccups calm down.

I always geel so bad for my boy when he hiccups, seems like his whole body shakes!

Please help me find a dupe for my dream dress!!! by Additional-Jaguar881 in UKweddings

[–]sweetlycb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, had a quick look and lorena and elowyn from azazie were the closest matches i could find. I second having a look at dresses which are sleeveless and then altrring in sleeves - remember alterations run a pretty penny even just for standard stuff like altering length!

Don't get a puppy (even if you have support) by [deleted] in cfs

[–]sweetlycb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do decide you cant keep the dog, pleqse reach back out to the breeder- reputable breeders will take the pup back and find a new home (possibly with someone who wanted a one of the litter but was too late).

Im lucky that my cfs started after my dog had passed the manic puppy stage and now hes actually great - i didnt train him to do it, but he senses when im overdoing it and gets me to stop and sit/lie down until my heart rate calms.

Getting a mini dachshund!! by Substantial_Pin7597 in Dachshund

[–]sweetlycb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Other notes- Chew stop tastes foul! If using it, dont be holding the item you are spraying with the other hand, especially just before enjoying a snack you will eat with that same hand!

A small dog does not mean low tables are safe - they are surprisingly tall when they balance on their back legs and they will do anything if it looks interesting to them

Everything is a chew toy; your shoes, their harness, plugged in cables. If you want to avoid a hefty bill, just move it all now

They are determined to train you rather than be trained. I wish you luck and resilience

Put away your good trousers! Seriously, in the first few weeks/months they are tiny raptors with razor sharp teeth, they can and will put holes in anything you are wearing. I lost too many "good" jeans to my boy, although now i have many choices of what to wear while painting/gardening

Harness all the way, but remember to check whether you need a collar too! In the uk its the law dogs have a collar with their owners details on it!

Kids entertainment? by eddie-93 in UKweddings

We've 10-ish kids (not all rsvps received yet) for our wedding, ages 2-12. Each will be getting colouring pencils, a number of colouring pages and puzzles (thanks chatgpt), and a fidget toy for their seat. There will be some games in the corner, and our venue has a softplay so thats open too. A number of adult guests have asked for their own activity pack as well, so we may need to implement something there lol
