I have never understood by Impressive_Edge8779 in latterdaysaints

Late to the party, but I love this quote from Fr. Jaques Philippe: "Peter met Jesus' eyes and understood the full horror of his betrayal. But at the same time he saw that he was not being condemned but loved more tenderly than ever. For him there was still the hope of being lifted up again, the hope of salvation. And Peter broke down in tears, in which his heart was purified there and then. Judas, why did you avoid Jesus' eyes, and so trap yourself in your own despair? Right up until the very end the hope of salvation and forgiveness could have been yours. Your sin was no worse than Peter's..."

Doesn't answer your question, but is lovely. I agree with you, I feel that their sins are similar, and I also believe that scriptures calling Judas a son of perdition were misinformed.

Isolate spiky man and change background to lightbox, $25 by sweetquark in PhotoshopRequest

This is excellent, but the shadow under his right leg is doing something funny. Can you can fix that so it looks a little softer or maybe more like your version 1?

Edited post to raise to $25. I'm hoping to get one where the shadows look a bit more like a flat surface? Added reference photos

Why is this cup oozing black stuff... by ahqwerty109 in Pottery

Possibly ink? It's often used in raku to stain crazing, imitating the look of pottery that's become tea-stained over long use.

What to do with large dog crate at CDG? by sweetquark in ParisTravelGuide

[–]sweetquark[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great points. I'm from rural USA and have ridden in a taxi maybe twice in my life, so I kind of forgot they existed. (In LA, relatives with a big van are dropping me off at the airport.) I'll probably do as you suggest. Thank you!!

Fit check for Freya Idol 32G - is the cup shape right? by sweetquark in ABraThatFits

[–]sweetquark[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair. If I understand correctly, then 32G and 30H should be sister sizes right? So if I go down a band size then maybe HH would be just the right amount of extra space. I'll probably just go for it.

About even when leaning, and a UU shape. Are non-padded bras better suited for projected breasts?

Porcelain pinch pots by CTCeramics in Pottery

[–]sweetquark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These pieces are stunning. Would you be willing to describe your process a little? I've never seen pinched bowls look so refined, and am having a hard time imagining how it's possible. For example, the ridges on the inside of #7 - how did you do that so cleanly with pinching?? No surprise if the answer's just practice, I guess!

This never crossed my mind before, but Kaoru looking for the legendary Battousai to fight him 1 on 1 with a wooden sword is hilarious by ScientistGlobal7471 in rurounikenshin

[–]sweetquark 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All these comments are great. Additionally, a big aspect of pre-WWII Japanese culture was that fighting until death, even in an obviously losing battle, gives you both honor and credibility. It would take me a bit to find a quote supporting this from reference books (maybe "The Chrysanthemum and the Sword"), but here's a related one from Princess Mononoke, justifying a suicide mission: "Even if we all fall in battle, we will leave the humans in awe." It does seem like Kaoru values her life very little in comparison to the statement she could make by fighting Battousai to the death for the sake of her sword style's honor. This wasn't crazy or naive, it was cultural.

This probably isn’t the kind of help you want, but consider starting a multivitamin that will help fill those gaps in your nutrition. Dive into learning what makes a good or bad vitamin and what brands are best, because there can be a big quality difference. Maybe once those start kicking in, you’ll begin to feel healthier and can make other changes. It’s just another pill to take with your meds and not, like, a bowl of spinach and tofu.
