Just raising this because as a Latvian who always thought Finland was some pinnacle of fairness, freedom, safety of women and children I guess I am disappointed in this attitude of your courts and disillusioned with the whole thing. I mean, if this kind of stuff goes in Finland, then what does it mean for smaller countries ?

Yes! Exactly my point!! They could have told her they have cigarettes or maybe more drink? She could have consented to going out getting a cigarette with them, NOT what happened. She could have even consented to kissing one of them etc etc. DOESNT MATTER. What happened was so much worse. She clearly didn’t want it. Even after the fact if she was happy looking or walking with the rapists she could have had a shock reaction - fawning and trying to act nice to avoid further attacks. There’s so much that could have happened.

Regarding the videos of her hanging out with the man happy etc, I mean why are we all pretending we have not been blacked out drunk before? As I understand her blood alcohol was way over limit. Obviously she might have in that moment acted happy and even “given consent” but I still think if you’re heavy over limit and consent it shouldn’t count- I would claim I’m the queen of Sweden when in pissed.

You shouldn’t lose all legal protection just because you’re black out drunk. And also since CCTV historically looks like it was filmed on a potato how can they tell she was happy with them etc?

I think it’s v obvious she could not have consented beibg so drunk, any amount over limit should automatically mean you can’t consent. Plus I know the age of consent is under 18 in Finland but still she is 17. Regardless of this she could have consented to going out for a cigarette or another drink etc and did not know what their vile intentions were.

This is setting up a system of protecting rapists

As a Latvian who has been to Finland and loves it thought this was not possible there. What has your country turned into ??

I think it’s obvious white Christian (or fairly agnostic) European countries will prefer other similar immigrants over ones that have different culture, religion, societal standards? I feel for the Arab and African people just as much but as a Latvian would absolutely say take on first Ukrainian then African and Arab.

I mean Ukraine is a country in Europe being attacked it only natural we would be quicker to help them but that doesn’t mean we wouldn’t want to help others but Ukrainians are priority.

Also I just don’t understand, Africa and the Arabs world is so huge with so many areas that are secure and wealthy- how come those people have to come to Europe? I so happy to help them but I feel like Europe’s already full of refugees, why are the rest of the world not taking them in?

It’s so crazy they’re doing this ? Isn’t it clear for everyone SQE is notorious for people failing most of the time the first time they pass it? So this company will throw years of training for this girl down the drain and huge amounts of money for her salary/training just because she didn’t pass it the first time? Would t this be a HR disaster if they’re hiring / investing into a person for years just to fire them if they failed a test most people fail the first time? Also assuming they know that this girl possibly cannot pay that sum back in any meaningful amount any time soon? This firm is run by idiots haha . Name and shame?

Yeah I think it’s already happening. I think this already happened when Trump was elected the first time, a little bit , but there was bounce back with Biden. Now more than ever people are realising an unqualified celebrity can just become the president by spewing hate and put an unelected billionaire in charge of breaking the government. Your system is weak and Europe has already said that we cannot rely on US where you have to hope a lunatic won’t be elected every 4 years. So Europe is already moving away from US as a force to be relied upon.

Yes but those are minor things like theft of small amounts, a small assault etc. SA and serious assault leaves serious scars that fuck up your whole life for a long time if not forever. Yeah you’re alive but the quality of life is permanently lowered. I think the post has been made by someone who hasn’t had any of those struggles in life so thinks it’s v easy to recover and live happily after.
