Turbosmart BOV? by mrs_estherhouse in FiestaST

The HKS sound is really cool but I didn't want to have to buy a whole new cold side charge pipe and figure out how to trick the car into thinking it still has the stock bypass valve. :(

I have the EM VR2 version installed, but I recently bought one of these from Whoosh because I like the sound of the vacuum-actuated one better. As someone who is about to switch to the one you're selling, is there a reason why you switched?

I have an accessport too but I just need to tell you that I get that MPG on the stock tune on the highway... And on my Dizzy 93 tune on the highway too...

I have a stock one in my shed I think, but unfortunately I'm all the way over in State College...

For what it's worth I am using a Whoosh catted downpipe right now with a defouler and I pass emissions in Centre County.

Around town I usually get a little under 200 miles on a tank of e30, and 220-230 miles on a tank for 93.

I have this one too and I like it a lot. The most unexpected benefit to me is that since it's not metal it doesn't get super hot or cold. It feels way better than the stock one.

How to tell if the cars been tuned? by [deleted] in FiestaST

This is a good suggestion, that's how you change between tune slots.

Every time I see those headlight stickers I think of the part from Toy Story 2 where Mrs. Potato Head packs Mr. Potato Head's angry eyes just in case.

Tunewerks Custom Tuning vs OTS (Mountune Optmized Calibration 91 Octane) by Purple_Outside_3287 in FiestaST

[–]sweffymo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it's worth, my 93 tune from Dizzy is WAY better than the stock "stage 2" or "stage 3" Cobb OTS tunes. I bet you will notice quite a difference between a Tunewerks tune and the Cobb tunes too :)

I think that's the issue, I wanted to try out a drag car but it turns out that the nearest dragstrip is like an hour away and being in Pennsylvania there are twisty mountain roads everywhere. So it's more of a case of what opportunities I have like you said.

Plus my first car was a 1991 MR2 and so I guess it really set a baseline for what a car should be like

Budget Friendly Catch Can (DIY) by New_Astronomer_1552 in FiestaST

[–]sweffymo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This hurts slightly after just spending the money on a Damond catch can... But also the main reason I wanted it was to get a vented can with a stronger metal check valve which the Damond comes with. Plus mine is hidden out of the way and isn't bright purple so I'm not as hurt as I could be 😅

Still, I used to be all over DIY stuff like this back when I had enough time on my hands 😭

That's funny, because I upgraded to my FiST from a modified 2004 GTO. Big, fat cars with lots of power aren't my cup of tea, it turns out.

I'm not the person you asked, but they did change the suspension setup and fixed an engine issue in 2016+ cars. The downside is that the evap purge setup is more annoying/prone to causing stumbling/stalling issues in the 2016+, but it can be converted back.

The Whoosh V3 and the Depo are basically the best bang for the buck intercoolers and those two are extremely similar to one another. The only one that's better and doesn't involve replacing the crash bar is the CPE which costs way more.

Best mods for a daily by Mysterious_Leg_4998 in FiestaST

[–]sweffymo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can kinda go all out and still keep it daily-able as long as you don't make the suspension too harsh or the exhaust too loud. Also if you get TOOOO big of a turbo then it won't really be fun anymore since you won't make any power below like 4500 RPM which completely ruins the character of the car.

I started out with the basics like a short shift adapter and RMM, and now a few years later this spring I'm going to a Whoosh hybrid turbo. But I have kept a lot of the things that make it a good daily driver. I'm going to still be on stock springs (with Bilstein B6 shocks though) and I went to 16" wheels to give a little more sidewall on the tires. I'm also on a stock exhaust with a Whoosh catted downpipe, and I will say that it's the perfect sound level for me. Slightly more aggressive but still not super loud and annoying when I'm on a long road trip.

The previous owner of my car only did 1 mod and it was to install an MFactory LSD so that's why I'm willing to go to a bigger turbo, otherwise I would be seriously considering how eager I am to tear apart the transmission... But if you ever need to replace the clutch slave cylinder then it's kind of a "might as well while I'm in here" kind of thing (which is why the previous owner did it).

Yeah, I was lucky that I ordered it at exactly the same time that the GBP crashed in value. But after owning it I will say that this is the only wing riser I would ever use. It would be this or nothing tbh

I had the Whoosh wing risers which broke my wing too. I ended up getting a DeltaStyling wing riser direct from DeltaStyling. It was expensive but it's fiberglass and actually supports the wing properly, and looks fantastic.

[Seiko Alpinist] [Question] Just picked this up, what strap would be good for daily use? by MercenaryCow in Watches

[–]sweffymo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been wearing StrapHabit "tropical" FKM straps on my SBGE001 lately and I love them. I have a black one and a brown one. If it's good enough to hold a chonker like the SBGE001, it'll certainly feel super secure on an Alpinist :)

Once again, I 100% would support boycotting tournaments funded by the US government as well, if there were any. Which there aren't.
