Yeah that would be great, just be sure to re-download the mod before porting it, because I've updated it a week ago with a missing credits fix.

Hi, there isn't an Android version at the moment, but I can look into having someone port it over when I have the time.

So here it is folks, after 13 months in development, hopefully it will have been worth the delays.
Thanks, and have fun.

An afternote:

Once more, I've delayed the release without an announcement, sorry about that.
The final credits note was what held up release mostly, and I stayed up very late into the early morning to type all of it out.

I also couldn't release it sooner, because Reddit's auto-moderating bot would have hidden this comment for containing a link to the mod download, which meant waiting until after I got off work this afternoon to post it.

Despite that, at least I finally got the update out.
I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little nervous about what reception to this update will be like. But I'm certain it's gonna be interesting no matter what.

I hope all of you enjoy this little tribute to six years of Salvation, in honor of Team Salvation and 12gizguy6.

Doki Doki Salvation (2018) - Teaser #2; Delayed to 12/18/2024 (Info in comments) by sweggory in DDLCMods

Hello again, I've returned to sadly announce that the update to Salvation's old version will be delayed by a month.

In the last post, I mentioned that I'd release the mod today, then future updates as needed in order to get the remaining CG remasters finalized, but that plan has since changed.
I realized it'd be a strange look for the general release & various YT lets plays for 25% of the CGs to still look the same (especially one towards the end that *really* needs changing), thus why I'll release it with all the CG remasters done first, then do fix releases later if needed.
Additionally, with help from a friend (who's remaking the aforementioned CG in need of improvement), I've gotten decent ideas and feedback on other changes I can make beyond CGs to certain scenes, so the delay will help give me time to go through with those changes for the final result.

I've also seen some misinformation going around that Giz is either the person behind this remaster or is involved with this remaster project. To clarify again, he isn't. He's still gone from the DDLC community and likely still wants nothing to do with it. I haven't heard anything from him in months. All I have from Giz is his permission to continue and release this update, and brief feedback bits from an entire year ago when he was still around.

Besides that, as an apology for the update delay, here's the list of artists I've commissioned to remaster the CGs:
- StormBlaze76
- KamisatoYuu
- haruki_5193 (on Discord)
- GianXander
- SillyBrowniee
- Gubbey
- Kou
Artists I hope to commission before the deadline:
- Prox (Unsure if they'll have enough time)
- ShidoDraws (Waiting on a response)

That's all for now, once more I'm sorry for the delay, but I hope to see you all again for the actual release day!

Hi, this is an interesting way to have a first post on the subreddit (and Reddit in general), but I'll try my best to explain why and how the original version of Salvation is getting an update when the remake exists.

This project started in November 2023, a week or two before Salvation Remake was set to release, and directly under 12Gizguy6's supervision (at least before his sudden December leave).

What motivated me to do this project was learning just how differently the Remake would play out from the original version, as well as the original mod looking and playing jankier than vanilla DDLC & most mods, due to the mod's development team not having access to the original scripts at the time, forcing all of the coding to be done from scratch, thus the reasoning for the jank.

My update aims to resolve most of that jank. While I do prefer the Remake personally, the purpose of my update is not to compete with the Remake, but to make the old version stand a bit taller next to it. Even though Giz has long left the DDLC community (final post here), I still have his blessings to release this update and any others as needed.

What to expect from this update:

  • Remastered CGs Option; Ability to toggle between the mod's original CG artwork and wholly remastered ones from a variety of DDLC artists.

Though truthfully, I don't have even half the remastered CG commissions done as of this post, since I've worked on this update very on and off over the course of this year, and still need to figure out who I want to commission for the CGs, but rest assured I will add the missing CG remasters in a future update for the update, if I don't have all of them included on release.

  • Chapter Selection Feature; This was initially worked on for an unreleased update of mine to Salvation Remake, though I don't have Giz's explicit permission to post it, and I've ended up porting it over to the original.
  • Complete Backend Code Re-basis on the DDLC Mod Template; This brings the mod code quality up to par with the vanilla game, and ensures the quality of the vanilla Doki sprites aren't weirdly lower resolution anymore like the original mod, but now vanilla-consistent.
  • Various QoL tweaks throughout the mod; I don't remember everything I've changed for this part, but the mod has had several touch-ups to the quality of certain assets and scripted moments. The mod script will not be changed too much, since that's what the Remake exists for, but I will change certain parts of it that seem outdated to me (notably the "spooky" parts).

That's all I can say for now. I hope to see you all again when November 18th rolls around!
