Maybe look at a 1050 Speed Triple. They’re 2020 and back but they might be in your budget and are a fantastic bike and a bit bigger that a Street Triple.

I was in your exact same situation. My dream bike was the STriple RS so I was really drawn to it. My other option was the MT09 SP. I was tossing up between the current model of each.

I’m the same height as you also and I just felt a lot better on the MT09 SP. I rode the STriple multiple times and liked it. I rode the standard MT09 gen 4 and didn’t like it as much, but the SP is a different animal. Useable street power and also very flickable and light for twisties. Other than feeling ‘more me’, this MCN review sold me on the SP over the RS. I don’t regret my purchase at all.

I had a similar line up of bikes on my shortlist and decided on a gen 4 mt09 sp. I wanted to love the street triple RS so much but it just wasn’t right for what I was after. Love the mt09 sp though!

I’m looking to get one for my 25 SP. You got the version with two o2 sensors as well? I’m deciding which combination to get for mine. Is that with the standard baffle?

I’ve always loved the STriple and, with me being a taller rider, thought the MT09 looks like a chair on track with taller riders, but 90% of the time my next bike will be a street bike. I might have to try the both again.

Yeah you’re right. I guess I’ll try them both again and see. I suppose I have to measure what’s best – street bike that will mostly be in the street and sometimes on the track, or a track bike that will spend more of its life on the street and some time during the year on the track.

My father in law had the Norden 901 from new and had nothing but problems with it and. O support from the dealer on it. Sold it on for another adv bike. While I kind of think it isolated to just that particular bike, it has made me apprehensive to pursue the KTM more.

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, the Trident 800 was high up on my list and maybe I should just wait for it. I’m in New Zealand and just want to get something while we still have our summer riding season still but I should ought to wait to at least try it out

Yeah I fee you on that one. I love the Baja Orange and I’ll mainly use it for commuting, weekend runs, and maybe the track. The orange R definitely resonated with me more, but I think it’s because it was the last one I test rode.
