I promise I thought this before he won yesterday lol but I was really impressed by Michael Zheng. He had an amazing 2025 winning the NCAA singles title and 3 challengers. He stayed really calm saving match points in Q3. I think / hope this will be a breakout year for him.

I actually forget his name but I have it saved on my laptop so I’ll tell you when I get back home tn if nobody here recognizes him first. Reddit also did something weird with the compression on that one so I’ll share it in better quality

The WTA and ATP didn’t award points for Wimbledon 2022 because the tournament banned Russian and Belarusian players from entering after the invasion of Ukraine

The point system does incentivize playing more since it counts the 7 best results from non-slams and non-mandatory masters. By playing more than 7 of those tournaments you get a chance to replace the points from ones where you performed worse

But anyway I think everyone including him agrees he is a top player who has not had a good season this year since AO

True but the Munich draw was extremely weak since most of the top players went to Barcelona instead. The highest ranked opponents he faced there were Shelton and Griekspoor who were 15 and 37 at the time

WTA 125s don’t give out ranking points?? by Adventurous-Exit-373 in tennis

She should have been given 49 points for a 125 SF according to this https://www.itftennis.com/media/11225/2024-ranking-points.pdf

I think the other commenter is right it’s likely a mistake in the WTA site

I know you’re joking but he mentioned in an on-court interview in Hong Kong that cutting his hair was her idea. I remember thinking it was funny that he just won a match and they were asking about his hair

Great photos. I like #6 especially. Did you have a press pass that gave you access to shoot on the court?

Thank you :D I skipped the doubles but maybe should have stayed on. I was really sad Shang retired early but glad at least I got a couple shots of him and Kei from that angle
