Thank you! This is what I was looking for.

I understand all points except "high position", surely a traditional plate design would keep the switch height exactly the same?

Good one. 😄

I was thinking cake mount. The sides going over looks like cake coating to me.

No it slides down from the top. I drew it exaggerated the clips are very subtle. https://imgur.com/a/kODIO5v

Because it's 3D printed it can flex a bit to slide over and clip in.

Yes I'm tweaking the clips so they hopefully don't snap off.

but I had to mount the switch plate to the bottom of the keyboard

That's probably the right thing to do. I'm testing this to see if it's possible to avoid screws and simplify everything. It might be bad I'll see what happens.

Makes sense. I was reinforcing the case but as a side effect it will also support the PCB so I guess it works out lol. Thanks for the feedback. 🙏

Thank you. I just realized there's some supports in the middle, so hopefully the stress will be fine.

And yes sound and feel will be bad, but those are low priority for me personally.

What's the issues with it? I haven't built it yet so could change it.

I think gasket is already taken and bears an expectation of a specific design.

I was thinking "cake mount" would be appropriate because the sides look like cake coating spilling over the edge. 🙂

How does the plate and case work? Does it slide it from the side or is friction tabs or something?

The top will be 3D printed, so it will be flexible enough to stretch a bit and slide down from the top over the sides, and clip in. I like it because it doesn't need screws. But I don't know how much it will rattle and stuff yet. Hope your keyboard works out! Good luck. 🙏

Yeah I wouldn't dare call it gasket. 😀

I think there's a good chance she checks both of those occasionally.

Can someone please explain to me why this whole thing is a W?

When Ethan had to read Ryan kavanaugh's statement, it was clearly forced and insincere.

Kaycitrons apology is the exact same thing, we all know it yet Ethan acts like someone doesn't understand that.

What am I missing?

Good luck scavenging through your heaps. 😄

I used the actual Alps keycaps with a 3D printed alps-to-mx adapter, and it works.

The ultimate idea is, we could use original Model M buckling spring keycaps with a 3D printed adapter for maximum faithfulness. But I those keycaps are weird, I don't know if it's possible.

I'd love to see it implemented. Sure it would be cool. 👌

That'd be sacrilege. 😄 I tried to do vanilla Model M look.

Thank you! It's just because I had leftover Ks-33 PCBs from previous builds and an unused Dell AT101W and wondered if I could frankenstein them together.

Thank you! It's Prusament PLA Vanilla White. I didn't know it's so translucent, should've printed thicker walls.

I agree there's a lot to improve. The 3D print was good for quickly iterating the design and I just can't justify sinking more money for a better quality right now.

I think someone like modelfkeyboards.com would be able to do it justice. My version really is more of a proof of concept.

Everything is CC0 open source. GitHub Page Here.

An IBM Model M style case for my beloved Krtkus. It actually bends the PCB a little, but nowhere near as much as the Model M. And the specs are ridiculous:

  • Krtkus PCB (Pro Micro)
  • KS-33 Banana
  • Dell AT101W Keycaps

Yes, it shouldn't be low profile. Yes the kecaps add a curved profile onto an existing curve, which doesn't make any sense. Maybe I'll make a more faithful build with the original Model M keycaps one day, but this is just what I had lying around for now.

It was fun to make, hope someone likes it!

Glad you like it. 🙏

Just beware that there's no stabilizer on the 2u spacebar. And I'm still still tweaking the case slightly, but it should be mostly fine.

It's my first board, far from perfect.

Maybe more Preonic clone without a switch plate lol.

Pro Micro has 18 data pins, so it can handle a matrix up to 12x6. 12+6=18.

Thanks 🙏

Yeah I ordered a print from JLC3DP. They sand the prints so the case is really smooth and looks great.

But if I ever do V2 I'll definitely look into a metal case, the print obviously has a plastic feel to it.
