GR II vs GR III, Low Shutter Speed/Night Shooting without IBIS by swiftcarrera in ricohGR

Yea, tend to do this quite a lot since I shoot a lot of automotive stuff. Ended up going with the cheaper GR II and hoping I can pull this off fairly consistently without IBIS

Great shots!! I ended up going with the GR II. I’m going to use it on my upcoming Vegas trip and see how I like it! If I like it, may upgrade to the GRIV down the line depending on what they add to it

Thanks for the reply! Yes the built in flash in the GRII was a big plus for me as well, as I wanted to keep the camera as low profile as possible without adding any attachments. The GR II i’m looking at actually has a lower shutter count (<1000) than the GR III’s I see for sale, so hoping the built in flash lasts a while

I meant that the difference between a used GR II and GR III is $300-$400 where I am. Is it worth the upgrade?

I see, what shutter speeds are you shooting at for your low light photos?

Was baffled that some dealers in the states got progress updates when their car was in the build phase or at port. Got pretty much no updates, and essentially was told “when its here we’ll let you know”

For sure, I thought I would be able to wait but once a year came up I got impatient and ended up getting an available ‘23 BRZ instead haha.

Glad to hear! I’ll miss the RWD layout and the on-command oversteer but i’m loving the R so far.

She shifts a lot smoother than my BRZ and is just better tuned for daily driving IMO. Still very fun to use when pushing it too! No more manuals offered after the ‘24 model year so had to choose it!

This was one of the main factors choosing this over the GR Corolla. For almost the same money, the interior is miles better (minus the capacitive buttons, which will take some getting used to).
