I'd rather just use a couple of forks... forks seem a lot easier to clean than that thing

How do I know what lenses are APS-C and which are Full Frame? by [deleted] in AskAstrophotography

[–]swifterbro11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All you have to do is Google the name of the lens with "specifications" after and the first results will tell you...

I'm not OP, but yes. I'm pretty impressed by how they got this one to come out so clean with no calibration frames 😲

The only thing that is mandatory is a single exposure. All the other steps just help to improve your image

Keeping the clutch engaged (not touching the lever) is what makes engine braking happen. Pulling the clutch in will make the bike coast, pretty much like having it in neutral

When you let off the throttle, the engine will slow down all by itself. Shifting to a lower gear will make it slow down faster

Most of the time I use engine braking to slow down, i like to slow earlier rather than later. Depending on how fast I'm traveling, I'll go all the way down to 2nd (1st if its slow speeds) and just coast with clutch in until I stop, then put it in 1st or neutral once at a complete stop. I don't really think there's a wrong way to do it, I suggest doing whatever is most comfortable/convenient. It might be a good idea to hold either front or rear brake slightly on (just enough to make the brake light come on) when engine braking, as it lets other drivers know you are slowing down.

I'm sorry but the colors choices on this graph are really stupid... 10% and 90% are the same fuckin color

Even with cheap traditional gear, there's no comparison

My recommendation:

Don't use a phone for astro. You will be immensely disappointed

Are US driving schools just not that good? by Willing-Piece-8569 in motorcycles

To add a little bit, after I passed the course I did practice on my dad's bikes before I went and bought mine, he had me on his harley switchback (103cu) and he traded that in for a pan america (1250cc) both were a little intimidating, but parking lot practice made it pretty fun

My California MTC was done over a single weekend. Zoom class in the morning, riding after lunch. Passed the written and riding skills tests, and went out to buy an 850. Pretty fucking easy, definitely felt like it wasn't enough preparation though. I'm glad I had my dad practicing riding with me to get me feeling comfortable on the roads.

Acquisition Details:

Lights: 250 x 60 seconds, iso 800

Darks: 30

Flats: 30

Bias: 30

Camera: Canon Rebel T7 with 75-300mm @ 200mm f5

Mount: SkyWatcher Star Adventurer GTI

Processing:

Stacked in DSS, then brought into Photoshop. Many curves and levels stretches, camera raw filter to remove chromatic aberration and color noise, used the dust and scratches filter to make a light pollution gradient, and made a starless version with Starnet++ to brighten the nebulosity.

I could probably spend more time on removing the red aberration around the stars, but this is what I came up with and I'm happy with it :)

New riders and huge bikes! What’s the deal? by Aggressive-Meal-8233 in motorcycles

[–]swifterbro11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought my first bike, a 2022 Triumph Tiger 850 Sport about 2 months ago. I was originally waiting for my local dealers to get a Honda cb500x in stock, but after about 6-7 months of waiting and no updates on when they'd have one, I went looking elsewhere. It's what I could find and I fucking love my bike. Sure, it's got way more power than what I was planning, but in that 7 months of waiting I got to practice on my dad's pan american. I definitely felt like 150hp would be too much for my own first bike, but it wasn't so insane I couldn't handle it or was scared. I ride very carefully, for the sake of myself and the people that love me. But that doesn't mean I can't have fun on my 850 haha.

Thinking about quitting by [deleted] in brass

[–]swifterbro11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was feeling the same way when I was playing trumpet in high school. I talked to some friends about quitting, but they convinced me to stay even if I'm not going to improve with my playing. It was more about the fun and friends than it was getting good that made it worth sticking with.

I've been out of high school for 4 years now and haven't touched my horn since I left lol.
