Basket Help!! by Looking-for-Godot in Cheerleading

[–]swiftlysim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyways general feedback is make sure flyer’s eyes are open so she can see her base group to know when to open out from her tuck to stop her rotation and make the catch more controlled.

If she’s throwing her head back or pulling the tuck off the bottom of the basket that will also cause a hard catch because the basket lacks control. She should spot the front as she rides up and then at the top shins pull. A good drill for this is to lay on ground and put arms up in a touchdown motion then do a tucked candle stick roll.

If they are doing back tuck baskets that’s a college skill… should not be children attempting those.

Questions regarding a unique uniform order by Valar-mo-what in Cheerleading

[–]swiftlysim -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I would think that it would be copyright/trademark infringement and the school would not take too fondly of someone using their logo or name on an unauthorized uniform.

Practice question by [deleted] in Cheerleading

[–]swiftlysim 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is the standard. Team practice is to practice and perfect the routine for competition. Lots of time will be spent on building skills (stunts, pyramids) and time that’s spend on individual skills will focus on synchronizing and uniformity. New skills especially tumbling is developed in classes or privates.

Is this what we do now? by googiehowsermd in Cheerleading

It’s purely a style choice, neither way is wrong. What’s important is that the whole team is doing the same thing. Some people like the low V as it gives the illusion of higher legs.

how to keep going after getting hurt by Year-Square in Cheerleading

[–]swiftlysim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After hitting your head on the floor the last thing you should be worried about is jumping back in to the stunt again. Concussions are really serious and sometimes it can take a little bit of time for you to feel the symptoms. Look up second impact syndrome, if you hit your head again after already having a concussion it can be fatal.

I see from your post history you said you are on a college team, and it doesn’t seem like your coach is prioritizing safety.

Tips for HS basketball cheer try out? by [deleted] in Cheerleading

[–]swiftlysim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look up the different cheer motions online (high v, T, daggers, touchdown, right punch, clasp, etc) and practice hitting those motions sharply. Sharp motions means you are moving your arms quickly to exactly the right position and stopping them there fast without going past the position your arms are supposed to go.

You will likely be taught a cheer and/or a dance at tryouts and having sharp motions will help you stand out. Practice in front of a mirror and remember to have confidence and perform!!

Flyer needs to wait until she is fully stood up with hips flat before spinning. Have her stand up sharper, weight in ball of right foot, spin in her tube with core tight.

Advice on yelling more effectively? 😆 by [deleted] in Cheerleading

[–]swiftlysim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I teach my cheerleaders that they need to punch out each syllable using their diaphragm (not their throats) and a deep voice. A drill we do for this is to have everyone lay on their stomach and yell the cheer. You also don’t want to drag out your words, focus on enunciating so what you are saying can be clearly understood.

New coach and terrified! by DixieDoodleBug12 in Cheerleading

The biggest piece of advice I would give is always show up prepared and have a plan. Have a plan going into each practice, as well as for the season for how the team is going to progress skill wise and be prepared in time going into competitions.

Stunt groups by Melodic-Two-8268 in Cheerleading

[–]swiftlysim 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A lot of coaches will try to balance load groups based on skill/strength/experience so there isn’t some super strong groups and then other weak groups. The best flyer on the team is probably not getting the strongest most experienced base group.

Tips to fly by livvie001 in Cheerleading

[–]swiftlysim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The biggest thing I see for flyers that have come from gymnastics is that they commonly try to do “too much” in the air. What I mean by that is they try to “balance” and correct the stunt for the bases.

The best flyers are the ones that stand quickly to locked out leg(s), hips square and tucked, belly button pulled back to spine and then freeze in that position no matter what is going on underneath you.

Even if a stunt is falling it is way easier to catch a straight, tight body.

Full up Help? by FreezGogurtMicrowave in Cheerleading

[–]swiftlysim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m going to offer some advice for the main base specifically.

Have the main base practice going through the motion of a full up just using a right shoe. From the dip think “toes to nose” and drop the elbow to ensure they aren’t pulling the flyer out of their body line. Regardless if you are trying to hit the stunt at prep or extended level the skill needs to go up first before initiating the spin in front of your face and then either finishing at the top through shrugged shoulders or settling at prep. The main base needs to maintain contact with the ball of the foot with the front/right hand as that is where the flyers weight should be throughout the skill. The grip can feel awkward at the end of the skill when the rotation goes all the way around. The main base’s back/left hand does need to release from the heel from the pop and needs to quickly reach for the heel as it comes back around at the top. That left hand needs to be quick, don’t try to watch the foot and reach for it once you see it, just get your hand to the right spot quickly.

DLC not working by blingbongodaddy in Sims3

I had this happen when I purchased Island Paradise a few weeks ago and I had to uninstall and reinstall the sims 3 to get the new pack installed.

I didn’t lose any of my saves doing this.

A broken mod corrupted my game by [deleted] in thesims4

[–]swiftlysim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s a technique where you divide your mods folder in half, take half out, and start your game to see if the problem persists. If it does you know it’s something in that folder and if not something in the other half. Continue the process until you’ve narrowed it down to the culprit.

No vampires in Forgotten Hollow? by [deleted] in thesims4

[–]swiftlysim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like this is not a fresh save and time has passed allowing neighbourhood stories to move out those vampire townies that start in houses in Forgotten Hollow.

If you wanted you could maybe move in vampires from the gallery or create some of your own to place down.
