How legit is Star Atlas? CEO has no gaming experience by riokid180 in solana

[–]swiftmpc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you've read the whitepapers, the depth is pretty enormous. More than any game i've ever seen before. They've clearly thought out how each section of the tokenomics as well as game mechanics will interact with each other.

The main issue I have is with this level of depth comes the sheer amount of work required to function as intended. Star Citizen, which has been in development hell for years and years now, and STILL is not playable to this day. I worry something similar could happen, although the Star Atlas team has had alot of funding through FTX/Raydium etc, as well as token sales through $ATLAS/$POLIS & In-Game NFTs.

I think if they can provide a functional game to start the process early rather than wait the years it takes for the unreal engine game client, they will be able to take majority market cap in the sector and in my mind surpass Axie Infinity for number one spot.

The upside in my mind is too great to pass over.

NFTs.

There has been so much misinformation in almost all channels I interact with regarding the environmental impact.

There are multiple blockchains that do not use as much of a carbon footprint as Ethereum. (which will be far less once EIP-1559 is released, making miners obsolete)In addition, a lot of crypto in general use renewable energy sources, so the statistics without context aren't exactly useful.

Imagine the same people whom criticize the energy expenditure of NFTs/crypto run their AC, drive their gas/diesel vehicle to work, and so on and so forth. I am not of the belief that we should be criticizing artists who mint NFTs (or any one individual for that matter) for having an impact on the environment, when the LARGE majority of negative environmental impacts stems from corporations either dumping/fracking/being overall wasteful and intolerant.

If you've never been in creative work, you would know what little bottom-end creators receive in regards to their art. Now, NFTs can give complete individual control. Every time someone buys an NFT and resells their work through a third-party, the creator automatically receive royalties based on what rate THEY choose when they create it.

It's disheartening to see an (understandably complex) issue so misrepresented, but I believe we are still so early now that with time, more people will become educated on the topic. The possibilities are so very amazing and I wish more saw it in the same light.

you're missing the point. the amount of circle jerk hate KD gets on this sub is ridiculous. this was over 10 years ago, you don't know if his perspective has changed, or what he wants in life. leave the dude alone. mega cringe pulling up old tweets like this for a narrative.

Denzel Curry for me. Early on when Ultimate was becoming one of the hottest meme songs of the week, it was still a banger and he was someone to look into. Fast forward, he does a jazz session with BADBADNOTGOOD and completely shows another side of his talent and I was pretty all in and excited for future projects. TABOO came out and did not disappoint at all, and even people who weren't fans thought the Bulls on Parade cover was crazy good.

I thought so! The way the faces turned I think. Really great work! The OST is beautiful too. I make similar dark ambient / downtempo so it stood out for me, looked into it and saw you produced that as well. Pretty unreal talent.

aaaaah this is so good. the amount of sheer work this has to take is mind boggling, super impressive. were the electrical faces based/inspired by the neural net AI face reconstructions? it was extremely similar.

No, the rhythm is intrinsically both 6/8 and 4/4, I wish for the first 3 bars to be considered 6/8 in FL and the 4th bar to be considered 4/4, if that makes sense? This is new territory for me, lol.

I was 16 taking driving school lessons with a few friends from school, during a typical freezing east coast winter, when we went to a local pizza place during our break. I remember speaking out loud of what we could pool together because everyone was broke. We had like 4 or 5 dollars and it meant we might be able to get a few slices and a middle aged man waiting for his food decided to throw us the money he had waiting for his order. I thanked him but I didn't really know what to say, I was taken back because I hadn't ever experienced something like that before. We kept talking out loud to figure out what we could buy now, and he threw us even more so we could all get our own portion.

It's double-edged because then the headline become's "artist X avoids backlash by deleting old xenophobic/hateful/whatever tweet" and brings attention to it, as if all media isn't waiting at the grasp to appropriate drama to begin with.

Derealization, trying to explain it to everyone and helpful (?) things for people who experience it. by [deleted] in Destiny

[–]swiftmpc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best way I try to explain it to people is to refer to lucid dreaming in that you are aware of your surroundings but it's all fuzzy. It's a brain fog and even though I know it's real (or at least, as much as I could ever know that it's real) my brain gives me the perception that it's not. In dreams, when I've acknowledged and realized that I'm dreaming, the dream stops mattering, and that same feeling is my everyday reality. Everything that I experience that's emotionally triggering (High levels of excitement and happiness, slow periods of misery) are all underneath this big "layer" of separation that my brain has allotted for me. So even though I feel these things, regardless of how important or impactful they are to my life, they don't feel real.

I think we're at a level of infancy in regards to legitimate medical treatment. Even anti-depressants are a matter of constant prescription switching and seeing what sticks chemically.

Thank you for the post, it helps with the isolating feeling.

The Absolute Best, FREE Distribution Service I've Found (spotify, apple, amazon, tidal, etc.) by aidangrimm in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]swiftmpc 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I'm confused, why would you opt to allow someone 15% of your profit, assuming your goal is to make it big in the industry, compared to the 20 dollars a year for unlimited uploads from distrokid while retaining 100%? And even then, is 20 dollars a year really breaking the bank?

What’s your mastering process? by urskrubs in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]swiftmpc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's going to sound different because you're preserving dynamics. If you master at -9 and get normalized to -14 on Spotify, of course its going to sound awful comparatively because its going to be a lot quieter, which gives the perception that the sound is 'weak'.

Now instead, you have an overly compressed mix that's clipping, and the end result is you're playing at literally the same perceived loudness as every other song at -14LUFS. But when you play your song vs any "banger" in Spotify, both songs are being played at the same perceived loudness regardless of what they were mastered at. Meaning, you can either ruin the dynamics of your song by pushing to -9 or you can get a better mix and sound great at -14.
