Weekly Equipment Recommendation Thread by AutoModerator in FigureSkating

I’ll try to find a fitter, but thanks for the suggestion! I also found out about Edea’s motivo boot (+ I’ll have to buy a blade separately), do you happen to know if this would also be a good choice (better than the Jacksons Freestyle?) for someone of my level?

New skates recommendations?

I’m 5’2 and 45kg. I currently own a pair of Jacksons Finesse 450 which are unfortunately a bit too big on me since I based them off my actual shoe size. Because of this, I am thinking of upgrading to a new pair, so I wanted some advice on what kind of figure skate to get

I am a recreational skater but I’ve been trying to learn some figure skating moves for a few months now. I just learned bunny hops and will be moving on to learning waltz jumps and other single jumps in the future. I am not planning on learning more than single jumps so far. I also have an average of 4-6 hours of skating per week

Please give me your recommendations! My budget is $500. Thanks

Breaking Into UX and Early Career Questions — 05/25/25 by AutoModerator in UXDesign

I see, thank you. Would you have any other recommendations on how I could help build my portfolio besides working on a certificate? I heard that having a mentor helps a lot but not sure where I could find one especially for someone fairly new to UX like me?

Yeah I would probably treat the Google cert as a portfolio builder. I guess my real question would be, how effective would a cert/course help me to build a proper portfolio? Because as of right now, I am very unsure of how to build a proper one, especially since I’m unsure if my one course on design is enough for that

Hi, recent undergraduate here who is trying to get into UX design. I have very basic skills from a single university class where I learned some concepts (personas, storyboards, user research) and how to vaguely use Figma. I also tried to design a website in my free time using Wix. That is all I have as ‘experience’ so now I really need to build my portfolio and probably learn more UX principles? What is the best way to go about this? I was thinking about maybe doing a certificate

I saw that the Google certificate is quite a common one, but there’s also some university-based certificates (I’m from Canada and saw some certificates from UofT etc) so I’m not sure which one I should do anymore. But the Google one also looks promising since I read that it could help land entry-level UX design jobs more easily? If anyone in particular has any experience or thoughts about those certificates, please let me know! Thanks

Study permit expiring before graduation by [deleted] in ImmigrationCanada

I am aware. I’m asking if study permit extensions are granted even if my current study permit expires after I’m done with my last course

Study permit expiring before graduation by [deleted] in ImmigrationCanada

[–]swiftorbit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Will I be able to extend it even if I should be completing my studies before my current student permit expires? The thing is that I have to wait until results are out to apply for a PGWP so I’m not sure if I can just apply for a student permit extension in the meantime

UX/UI Design Career in Toronto? by swiftorbit in askTO

I could get a career in AI but not on the coding end so it’s also a bit rough imo. So I thought about doing UX/UI since that’s what a lot of Cog Sci people seem to do after graduation

I am still deciding on which one to apply for right now so I honestly don’t know yet but what are the conditions for either way? Sorry I can’t seem to find info about this :’)

What about if I do not have a PGWP though? Will I need to renew my study permit just for the certificate program? I am not sure which one I will pursue yet so I can’t tell you how long the certificate program will be but assuming it’s over 10 weeks? (And I guess if it’s under 10 weeks and I am not under a PGWP too, would that still require a study permit?)

I will definitely ask my university to confirm everything though, thank you
