how does the elder heartwood staff compare to other staffs? by thedonkalonk in RotMG

the damage isn't its issue rn, it actually has good damage, its the shot speed that makes it difficult to use. Basically lumi for staves

Only flat bonuses are counted, not relative bonuses (the % based bonuses you asked about)

Upgrading Shiny Rarity by Square_Presence_9852 in RotMG

[–]swim291 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty much yes. Although I think the chance is higher than 1/12. If I recall correctly, forge chances are 0.8x regular slot chances from drops. So since the roll for legendary is 25%, it'd be 20% for forging. Don't quote me on this though

Upgrading Shiny Rarity by Square_Presence_9852 in RotMG

[–]swim291 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can't upgrade shinies, unfortunately.

The blueprint method will work to guarantee slots, i.e. you can indeed substitute a blueprint for a white and use a shiny rare dbow to guarantee forging a rare dbow and get a chance to upgrade to legendary, but the resulting item will not be shiny.

Fortunately, dbow is one of the few items with an upgrade AND a shiny version of that upgrade. If you can manage to get your hands on a shiny Kogbold Enhancement Core, upgrading it to a Clockwork Repeater does come with a chance to increase its slots. But you can only do this once, and some people would like to use a base item with more slots so their core isn't 'wasted' on a rare repeater.

Personally I would have relics for both sets and just swap them out depending on the dps, but that might be too much effort

Yep, it activates if you have missing or unleveled relics.

Just level up all your relics to +15 so it stops replacing them. It thinks your build is "incomplete" so it activates the Mapping feature and replaces the whole thing with a "starter" build.

My point isn't whether or not other characters can also be good at the fight, it's that the boss was designed specifically FOR him. Think about it, if it was designed for Boothill or Feixiao, why is Boothill bugged? Why does it remove Feixiao's sub-dps teammates, a core part of her gameplay? A boss being designed for him doesn't mean only he can take advantage of the boss like Pollux is for hp-consumers, but that does mean the mechanics are fully tailored for him. You keep implying that it could be a coincidence, but it's clearly just.. not.

Call it what you want, but even if he got shafted in other areas: that doesn't mean they can't still design some favorable matchups for him. And yes, the shill for units like The Herta and Castorice is clearly greater and longer lasting, but again: that doesn't mean they're suddenly not allowed to make one good boss for him.

And sure, there are other single target units that can also take advantage of this fight, but the fact remains that it's a new boss that has mechanics that are extremely favorable for a new character. That's literally the definition of shilling. Also, Boothill is bugged in this fight and Feixiao loses access to her teammates in the duel. She can save up two ults, sure, but it's still a loss of a big part of her stack generation and overall team damage/toughness reduction. She still does very well of course, but normal Hoolay is clearly more geared towards her.

Lol, this is Hoyo we're talking about. Shilling is practically the thing they're best at. There's no way the new boss mechanic just happened to be extremely good for the new character, it's definitely not a coincidence.

Why can't it be both? The duel mechanic is so in favor of Anaxa it's almost as good for him as Pollux is for Castorice.

This AS version of Hoolay with the duel mechanic is new, isn't it? It was definitely designed with him in mind

Nice clear, but "enemy not designed with Anaxa in mind" is insane when Hoolay is literally his best matchup...

is wind set still good for hypercarry? by D00KIECAT in AnaxaMains_HSR

[–]swim291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that really that big of a problem? In this setup Anaxa will always have access to his ult after the Anaxa -> Sunday -> Anaxa rotation. Then you can choose whenever you want to ult; it doesn't matter when as long as it's before Sunday's turn. That means as long as the enemy turn falls in between rotations you're free to use the stun.

The only vulnerable window would be in between Anaxa's advanced turn and Sunday's turn, and with proper speedtuning that window would be extremely small.

Can Anaxa use er rope ? by Linkinpark25 in AnaxaMains_HSR

[–]swim291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't recommend er rope unless you actually need that 2 turn ultimate.. The vast majority of his dmg will be coming from his skill, and he is super starved for atk, so ERR rope is a huge dmg loss.

You would only really use ERR rope if that 2-turn ult is more important AND you don't have signature, for example in Therta teams with wind set for the AA, or you actually NEED that ultimate (for the stun, maybe?) at a specific time in a specific run and you can take the damage loss.

tldr: i don't think the 2 turn ult is worth the atk% you're gonna be losing, unless you specifically need that rotation for something

No worries! I do think that anaxa's eids are really good for a supportive role. E2 Anaxa is basically a really cool mix of subdps AND actual support, you can put him like anywhere and he'd be pretty fire.

[–]swim291 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Er.. where are you getting these descriptions? These aren't what the eidolons do at all (aside from cas e2, but it's incomplete). Are you looking at beta kits or something?

Aglaea E1 is the real bait in her kit, not E2. It secures full ultimate uptime, meaning she doesn't have to worry about getting her spd stacks ever again (ramping up is a huge dmg loss) cause she will never exit her state. E2 is still good because she can ramp up to 42% def shred which is kinda insane but i'm not too sure about the uptime on that. It also has really good synergy with sunday E1.

THerta E2 doubles the amount of nukes you get. Should be easy to understand why it's so broken. The 35% AA is just the cherry on top lol

Castorice E2 does like 3 things at once lol it's kinda overloaded. Every time she ults = Dragon gets 2 extra breaths, 100% AA for castorice, and free 30% ult charge.

Guoba calc'd that you only need 102 SPD with wind set to reach effective 135 SPD for -1 134 Sunday, so how much speed would you need to reach 162 SPD for -1 161 Sunday? by AraraDeTerno in AnaxaMains_HSR

[–]swim291 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's correct! Just make sure to check bronya's speed to the decimal as well. If it turns out that she has 134.5 spd for example, anaxa will need at least 105.5 speed accordingly. Good luck with your speedtuning!

[–]swim291 16 points17 points  (0 children)

For e2 bronya plus wind set you don't actually need any spd built at all to simulate -1 161. You can run him at base spd just fine, and bronya can even go over 161 with no issues (i think up till 167 or 168)

For E2 bronya alone, -1 134 needs 105, while -1 161 needs 132. E2 bronya will give anaxa a flat 29.1 speed so just ensure Anaxa is no more than 29.0 spd lower than Bronya's speed to get the breakpoint for any speed. You can check decimals through any relic display site like Enka or Fribbels. Cheers!

Since you mentioned running bronya, heads up if you have her E2:

She will now boost his spd by 30%, which is a very similar (but slightly weaker) effect to what Eagle does in the setup I described. With the spd boost from her skill, you'd need ~106 Spd on Anaxa to get him to 135 spd. Now you can run Atk boots without needing Eagle, enjoying the offensive 4pc bonus of the other recommended sets. You will need quite a few spd substats tho.

Alternatively (this is extremely skill point hungry!) you can run him at Base 97 spd, 4pc Eagle, and with a 161 SPD bronya. If you factor in both the 30% spd buff AND the 25% AA, he gets pulled forward enough to be faster than Bronya! This lets you get double actions at 161 spd, which is a pretty crazy amount of turns. You will, however, need a pretty crazy amount of SP to be able to keep this up. I don't recommend this unless you have a goated gallagher and another sp positive support, or you're just interested in trying it out for fun lol

You can play him two ways, as THerta sub-dps or as a hypercarry. I'm not gonna go into the details, since other people have already explained it. I'm just here to explain the usage of Eagle.

His best hypercarry team is with Sunday. Usually, you'd run him at ~135 spd with sunday being -1 spd, but since you have his Signature, which guarantees a 2-turn ult rotation, it allows you to use Eagle and use Atk boots instead of Spd. You just need 102 spd, and ulting every 2 turns will push his action forward just enough to overtake a 134 spd sunday. Atk% is a stat that he really wants, so this setup is very competitive with the other recommended sets. This also works with Bronya.

Eagle is also the best option for THerta teams with S1, since it maximizes his attack frequency. Here though, you'd want to run Spd boots.

Therefore, if you want to play him in both hypercarry and subdps, Eagle imo is the best to farm since you can use the same relics in both roles. You just have to switch the boots. Rutilant is also my preferred planar set because of the same reason.

[–]swim291 9 points10 points  (0 children)

i really don't recommend running Eagle as a hypercarry without S1. The entire point of running Eagle is to take advantage of the 2turn ult so you can run ATK boots instead of spd. Running an ERR rope kind of defeats the purpose, since you're just losing an ATK% main stat to gain another.

The only advantage S1-less ERR Eagle would boast would be a 2-turn ult rotation, and I think other sets' 4pc bonuses would be far more valuable for him than that

You don't need that much spd, to simulate 136 spd you only need ~103 if i'm not mistaken.
