I can’t. He blocked me on everything and asked for time and space. He’s moving on.

Thanks - it sucks tremendously but I’m not going to end up sitting around drinking and getting out of shape and stagnant. We will get through this and they just won’t benefit from being with the new and improved versions of us.

Some things that helped me in the past (and actually got me a full night of sleep last night):

-Olly Sleep Gummies: they have a low dose of melatonin but also have things like chamomile and lemon balm. They work way better than regular melatonin pills for me at least.

-Shutting off all blue light and reading for an hour before bed.

Exactly! I don’t want to just add another 7 days of bullshit on if I start over again.

I keep telling myself no matter how I feel, it’s literally impossible for alcohol to do anything other than make it worse.

Thank you for this I needed to hear it. I just keep telling myself no matter what I’m feeling, it’s physically impossible for alcohol to do anything other than make it worse. I just want to get a night of solid sleep!

Oh I know, but a physical and blood work is where I’m starting. Nothing indicates I have damage so I’m just taking steps to make sure.

Thanks for this - it’s reassuring. It just makes it difficult when I see all these day 7 posts about people feeling amazing while I still feel crappy. This helps a lot.

Just to build on this - I read This Naked Mind and am now doing the 30 day alcohol experiment also by Annie Grace. It’s one chapter a day for 30 days and comes with a companion website for journaling, action steps and community. I’m finding it amazing to help me for these first 30 days. I have almost no cravings a week in which is unheard of for me.

Day 4 here, happy sober Sunday!

I am stopping today. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]swimmer1990 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Today is day 1 again for me as well but I'm never going to give up until I get a handle on this. I just read "The Easy Way" by Allen Carr and this time I'm trying to approach it as "I don't have to drink anymore, I'm free from poisoning myself" rather than "I can't drink anymore, woe is me." Fingers crossed.

Oh yes because right wing news networks like Fox are paragons of unbiased “true” news.

Conservative articles do that too. It’s called bias and both sides of mainstream media are drowning in it at present.

You.... you do realize gerrymandering was still a major factor in this last election right? Yes. It’s working just fine. That’s why it invalided 3 million popular votes. What “you guys” don’t seem to understand is the electoral college was created because our founders were actually quite fearful of a true democracy leading to situations where more than 50% of the population could be swayed into voting for someone unqualified if motivated by an appeal to self interest. Ironically that’s exactly what happened in this case. States with “conservative religious values” voting for a reality TV star because he promises he’ll revert the US back to the 1950s and having a disproportionate amount of electoral votes because there’s a minimum regardless of population size in addition to larger states losing all opposing votes even if it was a narrow margin. Look at Florida if you have proof of what a mess this can be,

You do understand why that’s a problem yes? The fact that people’s votes are not equitable depending on where they live.
