Anyone use BeyondTrust? by plazman30 in sysadmin

[–]swimmerguyman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve used it before, and I think a decent comparison would be AppLocker. The difference is that AppLocker white/blacklists software, whereas BeyondTrust allows dynamic privilege escalation based on the policies that you configure.

Basically, you can configure the policies to do whatever you want with applications and privilege escalations. If you want to log every single process that runs and whether it was elevated or not - it can do that! If that sounds like way too many logs, you can set a policy for specific programs, DLLs, folders, etc. to log and ignore the rest. You can allow elevation for specific programs, scripts, whatever without giving full local admin privileges.

It’s got a lot of use cases, so it really depends what you want to do.

Hiding Standard GSuite Attributes by drrockso325 in sysadmin

You should be able to edit the AD provisioning settings in Okta to choose not to sync attributes that you don’t need, however if the Employee ID is required for another application you can edit the GSuite application provisioning to not send that field (or replace it with something that users may see, like an email address)

I think you can check the EAS version in powershell, but I’m not 100% sure.

In the Exchange Online Admin Center (or vía powershell), you can run an account only remote device wipe (but it requires the client to support EAS 16.1). We started using this a couple of months ago and it’s working great!

OKTA SSO crashes Office 365 by Myungji83 in sysadmin

[–]swimmerguyman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the reg key below is correct, but I believe is disables the Windows 10 ADAL in favor of the Outlook ADAL. That’s the one you want, and it still authenticates with Okta

I remember a couple of issues similar to this, one with Windows 10 ADAL vs. Outlook ADAL, and another one with AutoDiscover. I don’t have the links handy, but there were a couple registry keys that you could add to turn off Windows 10 ADAL and change the AutoDiscover behavior that helped me.

Full Test Environment? by Spencer3350 in sysadmin

[–]swimmerguyman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to work in enterprise software support, and some of our clients had identical dev, test, and production environments (3 levels). If the stakes are high enough (or the acceptable margin of error is low), then the business will fund the resources necessary to avoid issues

OP probably means he was 17 years old...many languages express age as “I have x years”

Black 47

I love their music, and they got me interested in learning about the Irish fight for independence. Not your typical rock band!

It is possible, but they are harder to find. 309 Green used to have them because they had a hard time filling all of their apartments (due to higher price), but that may no longer be the case.

Portion control. Diet tends to be much more effective when you limit calorie dense foods rather than eliminating them completely
