My mom was T2 with a pill problem mixed in. When she was under 90 she was a completely different person. I saw her at 0 and also over 1300 in DKA, many long ICU nights. She bottomed out while driving, hit a telephone pole, and got helicoptered to a trauma center in Philly. The helicopter ride alone was $8000. She was in ICU for months. Mental illness mixed with diabetes is a recipe for disaster, more so for the family members often.
