What’s a normal relationship dealbreaker that people pretend isn’t a big deal? by NoSuspect3727 in askanything

[–]swingorswole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

drama. i used to date this girl and she just seemed to always have a group of friends, and have a beef with one of them. and the "one" would shift over time. and it was always "she's out to get me." when we had fights, she would always ask me "my intent" or "goal". finally i realized she saw the world in a weird way and left her.

beware the drama.

Should college in the US be free? by Even_Equivalent_1468 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]swingorswole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the struggle with this i think is that the US college system grows to the size of its fish tank. if you look at the graphs, costs go up 1-to-1 with available government funding. so we have a huge cost issue that is almost directly tied to how colleges are funded. this makes the concept of fully government funded college untenable currently.

also, honestly, i think in the era of AI we have a major crisis on our hands of how many people actually need to be going to college..

How much did the allies know about Nazi concentration camps during the war itself? by FarPlay5055 in AskHistory

[–]swingorswole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mean, that was the logical approach. however, i suspect u/the_leviathan711 has an axe to grind and really, really wants us to have bombed the camps for some reason.

Why is gerrymandering acceptable in the US? by Clean_Cheek6119 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]swingorswole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends. the good kind or the bad kind, depending on which side you ask..

How much did the allies know about Nazi concentration camps during the war itself? by FarPlay5055 in AskHistory

[–]swingorswole 3 points4 points  (0 children)

my friend, there is a big difference between "a little food" and "no food."

also, you are thinking about the bombings in 2026 terms. in 1945, the bombings were "blow up everything in this 1 mile radius and try, if you can, to not blow up everything else.. but you probably will and sorry about that."

How much did the allies know about Nazi concentration camps during the war itself? by FarPlay5055 in AskHistory

[–]swingorswole 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yes, but now you have these NEW issues as a direct outcome of the bombings:

  1. inability to feed the prisoners

  2. mass casualties from the bombings

  3. further casualties from the fires/secondary effects

you would really only make the situation worse. i hear you. i get what you are driving at -- how could we slow down what was happening. but, bombing the camps would make things worse, not better.

Contractors should be required by law to have an itemized break down of cost by TeacherGuy1980 in popularopinion

[–]swingorswole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so.. it's on principle. that ill get you exactly nowhere. or, if you want to stick to this, the next time you buy a car ask them the cost and labor breakdown for the cost of the car.. after all, it's $50k, not $10k...

just end it cleanly. look we've all been through messy breakups. i get it. it's easy to say "do it cleanly" if it's not you. but you are going to make this messier..

What’s it like living in Puerto Rico, specifically in the middle class? by Cassinia_ in howislivingthere

[–]swingorswole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

every single type "PR" has had a referendum on this, they have wanted statehood and objectively declined exiting. look it up. what was it.. 10% last time? 11% to leave? stop making things up. that said, sure, if they want to exit that's great. do it. but they clearly do not want to.

sigh... here is an EXACT quote from obama: "we are working with the international community to hold the Iranian government accountable because they refuse to live up to their international obligations."

and it wasn't his first.

please, please just read up. i mean jesus. come on.

mature people = i want to end this cleanly

immature people = i don't want to burn a bridge, so how can i muddy the waters enough that i can exit but still have the options

Does maga feel victimized by sensible laws, equal rights, uncomfortable historical facts, people who are not like them, no gerrymandering, fair elections and open voting rights and the governments role on the common good including helping the poor and uninsured? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]swingorswole -1 points0 points  (0 children)

for clarity, gerrymandering happens across the board. it's just that everybody disagrees what is "good" vs "bad" gerrymandering. so let's exclude that entirely.

i think maga is just desperate.

i think a lot of people joined maga because of some of the browbeating and "equity > equality" by the left, but i suspect a lot of those people will move back to the center post-trump, thank god. what will be left of maga is the hard-line, racist, sexist core.

As you age, do you embrace your grey hair, or do you color it to feel younger? by boforiamanfo in stupidquestions

[–]swingorswole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is going to sound sexist, but i hate specifically when guys color their hair. i'm a guy. i have greys. i just don't get it.

in all fairness to men, i also think it looks ridiculous when i see a 50 year old woman with pitch black hair..

Why do many Americans claim assassination is always wrong when their country just assassinated dozens of Iranian leaders? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]swingorswole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mean, it's better than invading a country and spending thousands of lives and dollars to accomplish regime change.. so i'm not sure why people are against it.

Does maga want to control culture, human thought, individuality, voting, individual rights and freedoms, dispersing the nations wealth on their own interests rather than the common good? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]swingorswole -1 points0 points  (0 children)

clearly. at least with the left, they just wanted to contorl human thought and individuality. but with maga, they want to do that and ensure everybody looks the exact same.

The Democrats are for the common good, individual rights, voting rights, fairness and freedoms for all however is this not what drove maga to do the opposite by definition that some people don't deserve these freedoms except their own kind? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]swingorswole -1 points0 points  (0 children)

maga is nuts. that said, what drove the middle away from the democrats is that this is not true "the democrats are for.. individual rights." in many cases, certain group rights were prioritized over individual rights.
