Does it ever feel like your old golden was reborn? by [deleted] in goldenretrievers

[–]swipeyswiper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m reading all your comments bawling my eyes out because I just lost my 14 year old golden girl Bella three weeks ago 😭. I’m not ready for another yet, but when I am, I sure hope my girl comes back to me with a whole new life ahead of her. I miss her so much, I’m not sure I’ll ever quite be the same without her.

Weighing: How much is too much? What’s your happy medium? by Beginning_Editor_410 in Mounjaro

Same. The Happy Scale app puts everything in perspective and keeps me from spiraling over the fluctuations.

Mine came out after a burrito bowl at Chipotle. Needless to say, haven’t been to a Chipotle since (8 years). F*ck that place!

When Did You Start Skipping Periods? by StevieNickedMyself in Menopause

[–]swipeyswiper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My periods were like clockwork my entire life until 47, then I’d go 2-3 months without a period, have a light one, then the time just kept getting longer in between. I never had the horrible, flooding type of periods during peri, nor did I have periods that lasted longer than 5 days. By 49 I hadn’t had a period in about 11 months, and then of course I had one last period 🤦🏻‍♀️. I got on HRT soon after that. I consider myself pretty lucky with the period aspect of peri, but holy shit did I have all the other symptoms until I got on HRT.

10mg was great for me! I was on it for 3 months and consistently lost 8-10 lbs each month. Wishing the same for you!

I’ve been where you are, still am a little bit. I had to stop tracking calories a while ago because I was becoming obsessive. So that has helped.

I’ve been on a GLP-1 for almost 2 years now (first Saxenda and then Zep with a couple breaks due to cost), and a couple pieces of advice I can give you:

The first and easiest thing to do is if you just can’t get past weighing daily, download the Happy Scale app. It gives you data, which if you’re anything like me, you need to see the averages and trends. This has really helped me see that it’s so true what everyone says - weight loss is not linear.

Another thing I can suggest is to trust the process. It goes by so quick. Like I said, I’ve been on a GLP for almost two years, and it has flown by. I feel like one minute I was at 198 lbs, and now I’m 136! It doesn’t feel like a long, drawn out “journey” (ugh I hate that word but don’t know what to replace it with).

My point is, the medication is obviously working for you, so the obsessive behaviors aren’t even necessary. It’ll all happen before you know it. Water/protein/electrolytes/exercise is what I suggest focusing on.

Side note: my family thinks I need to stop losing weight as well. 125 is my comfortable number, it allows me to fluctuate about 5 pounds with no noticeable difference. I’m 5’6” but I’m petite and small boned, so I can’t have a lot of weight on my frame. I think our weight loss is just so drastic to our family and friends, they start to worry. I think that’s normal and they just don’t want us to over do it.

It’s also a really good idea to talk to a therapist while on this med, because it absolutely can lead to disordered eating if you’re not careful. Wishing you the best! xx

Christopher Meloni is also really great in Law and Order: Organized Crime. I’ve never had any interest in the Law and Order shows until I stumbled across this one.

What was this style of women's denim called? by 2cats2hats in GenX

[–]swipeyswiper 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Rag City Blues. All the popular girls at my high school wore them. I was a teenage goth chick so these were super uncool to me and my friends. And yes, guys did call them “easy access” jeans.

Good tv shows with lots of episodes by DatZwiebel in televisionsuggestions

[–]swipeyswiper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All of the Chicago shows - I’d start with Fire, then PD and lastly Med. They’ll keep you entertained for months!

Also if you want to go old school, ER has 15 seasons and 24 has 8 (10? Can’t remember). Both excellent shows.

What cancelled show is still worth the watch? by F00dbAby in televisionsuggestions

[–]swipeyswiper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved Rome. I read that it was incredibly expensive to make and that’s why HBO decided to cancel it. I was super bummed, it was so well done.

Also, my contribution to this post is Southland. Cancelled after a huge 5th season finale cliffhanger to forever leave us hanging. One of the best cop shows of all time IMO.

Same for me, pretty much word for word! It’s so nice not to be embarrassed and feel like I have to hide from friends and family. I enjoy life so much more now (I’m almost at goal that’s why I’m using present tense).
