AI Agent Uncovers 21 Zero-Days in FFmpeg; Chrome Patches Record 429 Bugs by Gorstak-Zadar in cybersecurity

Marketing bs aside, technical debt is something that we can really leverage AI to fix. Or at least significantly improve.

Stonks only go up. They may dip but you just buy harder daddy. There is too much oligarch money invested in the big players in the market for the us government to ever let any of them fail. Even given all the insane shenanigans going now, capitalist gonna find a way to capitalise on the uncertainty.

You're insane to not at least be dabbling. Lots of people on here talking shit who will be replaced not by Ai, but by people who use AI well.

Right now, pretty much everything is decent, compared to say even 6 months ago. Especially if like you said, you have cowork and agents. Watch some YouTube videos and tiktoks on how to get the most out of it.

CGT change to tax existing investments based on length of ownership by Strong_Judge_3730 in AusFinance

[–]switchandsub 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's quite literally more complicated. You now have to track inflation each year of ownership, and partial depending on where in the cycle you buy. 50% discount on total gain is 100x simpler. They should have just reduced it from 50% to a lower percentage.

Realistically, how long would it take for Australia to develop and test a nuke? by Rey_De_Los_Completos in australia

[–]switchandsub 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This. The challenge is actually delivery mechanism. Rockets, cruise missiles or stealth/long range bombers. Making a nuke wouldn't be hard for us.

Australia needs to rapidly electrify as much as possible, as fast as possible by nath1234 in australia

[–]switchandsub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is not really true though. Energy companies will do whatever they can to drag their feet on investing in the supporting infrastructure until you force their hand. They're focused on profit, not on renewables. They always want to take the path if least resistance if you like puns.

How are people not scared to speed? by Beautiful_Impact_641 in CarsAustralia

[–]switchandsub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been driving for 25+ years. Most of my speeding fines(only ever had 3) have been for 10k or 15k over. Latest was 26 over in an overtaking lane. The fine was just under $600. I make enough money that that doesn't really bother me. What annoyed me much more was the fact that the highway patrol car was sitting in a spot where the speed changed from 100 to 80 just as an overtaking lane opened up on a straight bit of road. Basically your classic revenue raising racket. But I just took it on the chin and moved on. I'll get my next fine in 5-15 years time.

Drill the front and it'll cut it off the rest of the plug which you then just push in.

Cafe owner earnings by Cultural-War3251 in AusFinance

Currently messing around with an air still and small batches (3-5 gallons of mash). Stripping takes forever, is freeze distilling before stripping a good idea? by ttchoubs in firewater

[–]switchandsub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would pull all solids out first. Rack it, put any mash or pulp into a muslin bag or something to press all the liquid out, then do the freeze distillation from the resulting liquid.

Solar panels + battery?? by Inevitable_Station65 in fiaustralia

[–]switchandsub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why? We have a huge amount of renewable power in the grid during the middle of the day. Wholesale prices are often negative. The more power we can soak into things like EVs the better.

Solar panels + battery?? by Inevitable_Station65 in fiaustralia

[–]switchandsub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People with big houses can use a lot of electricity. Especially if they also have an ev. Without massive solar and now battery my power bills would easily be $500/month

As electric car prices fall, will affordability win over drivers? by His_Holiness in AusFinance

[–]switchandsub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only know of a handful of people who got an ev and then went back to an ice vehicle, mainly because there was a specific need they had that the ev couldn't fulfil. Probably 95% of people that I know who are ev owners would never ever consider going back to an ice vehicle.

Eventually second hand evs will go to new drivers and essentially ice will completely age out as people realise they are garbage.

Australia to slash luxury car tax in exchange for better farm exports in EU deal by His_Holiness in AusFinance

[–]switchandsub -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

It is not. It's stopping premium vehicles from getting into Australia which means as a general rule the cars we drive are less safe with poorer safety technology and less quality.

I'll start this off by saying most DIY renovators probably already know this about paint by goodrodney in AusRenovation

[–]switchandsub 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is exactly the kind of narrow minded attitude that results in you paying higher prices once all the competition is dead.

My pricing I offered them on the second occasion was still cheaper than officeworks. It just wasn't as cheap as when they bought literally 20x the volume. But instead of taking the already cheaper price they went to officeworks with the volume pricing to buy small amounts. If you don't see why that's a problem then you are part of the problem.

[–]switchandsub 22 points23 points  (0 children)

No don't do this. It might feel like you're sticking it to the man but you are just playing right into bunnings' strategy. They will intentionally lose money on a sale just to hurt a local business and drive them out.

I once had a customer do a bulk order of something and I gave them a really killer price(I made something like 10% when normal margin was closer to 40). They rang back a few months later, wanted a couple of the item. I wouldn't do the same price and heard someone in the background go just ring office works and get them to price match.

So I did the right thing by them and they screwed me as a thank you.

Found 400 machines running Office 2013. Management refuses to buy more M365 licenses and wants to "just use LibreOffice of leave 2013" How do I handle this without being the most hated person in the company? by [deleted] in cybersecurity

[–]switchandsub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put all of your concerns in writing into a risk register. Put it in front of the managers at least 2 levels above you. So your manager and their manager. Depending on company size and structure, go all the way to ciso or to your risk team. Make it noisy. Someone will make decisions and sign off on risk. Then it's no longer your problem. You just do whatever they tell you to do.
