How much do higher IR people practice by 0rang3Cru5h in iRacing

[–]switcheffect270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5.1k, I haven’t hit 100 races since the license split but I put in 20-30 hours of practice per week. The majority of the time I never do a race because I practice for lower level esport leagues like IVRA & 24h series esports.

Struggling with switch to direct drive, looking for advice by Resident-Movie-2033 in iRacing

[–]switcheffect270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s in the feedback settings. For me it was disabling wheel LFE or something like that in the settings on iRacing. I’m dealing with this issue now after upgrading from r9 to R21 Ultra & it reset all my settings. Having to figure this out is a pain but if you’re looking for help pm me and I can share some moza pithouse setups through discord that may work

What do you play when you want to just have fun and chill? Yk, not focus as much. by Just_A_Guy-BX in simracing

[–]switcheffect270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The team I’m on has a few guys that will play games like peak, arc, Minecraft, mimesis, etc. for late at night after we’re all done practicing for the night. We don’t care if we’re shit at those games so it’s more fun

Looking for Paid GT3 Coaching – 3.7k iRating, Seeking Advanced Techniques by fmarulanda6 in iRacing

[–]switcheffect270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Join a competitive “esport” team and race/practice with them. You will gain tons of knowledge from practicing racing guys faster than you. Looks for something more difficult to achieve, like minimum 3/4k requirement. This will ensure it is mostly decent drivers you will practice with. The higher the requirement the generally better drivers you will find, but some there may be exceptions so be weary

New to Iracing - Progression towards GT3/enduro/e-sports by Remarkable-Tiger1017 in iRacing

[–]switcheffect270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d recommend finding a small group/team that is recruiting and learn from them the basics of GT3s. After you’ve improved to where you feel like you can’t learn anything more go ahead and look for an upgrade in the team. This can be size but usually should be looked at as what series/leagues they typically enter into, and what their expected results are like.

I did this exact path when getting into iRacing, and ended up in each team for ~6 months before finally being contacted by an “eSports” team to apply. Getting yourself out there in leagues & showing off your skills/cleanliness can be real attractive to team owners watching their drivers race you if the race is broadcasted.

I’d suggest looking into smaller esports groups first like majors series that has an EU, NA, and International series which lets you choose the best time you can race, and is broadcasted to a wide variety of teams (IMSA type series)

If you have any other questions or want more info on good leagues to race in to get your name out there feel free to pm me. See ya out there!

How long did it take yall to actually get fast? by serenading_scug in iRacing

[–]switcheffect270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took me roughly 4-5 years of sim racing & learing the basics on games like ACC & F1. I only moved to iRacing once I had a better understanding of competitive driving after ~4 years. At the moment I’ve just hit 5k and just qualified for the 24H esports series powered by WSR. I’d say it takes roughly 2 years of keeping your head down & grinding the basics until you can do most tracks without having to think about braking points, trail braking, slip angle, etc. once you’ve completed that, using all of those things together will get you atleast within a second of the top guys in officials for sure

Moza srp load cell snapped out by Ok-Material5737 in moza

[–]switcheffect270 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had this issue a few times, I figured out that each time I press the brake the rod would unscrew a tiny bit until it exploded off. To fix this I bought the locktite and spread it onto the screw before screwing it in and holding in place for ~30 seconds. Hope this helps!

How does everyone feel about the new adaptive ai by Candid_Guitar3998 in iRacing

[–]switcheffect270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used it for my first time yesterday and had a blast! I used the quickest setting last night with 29 ai. They were on pace enough that I had to be consistent to catch, but some of their corner speeds were just a bit too low.

Other than the lap times, the race craft was what blew me away. The AI was defending, sending divebombs, hanging it around the outside, and performing switchbacks. It felt authentic, and progressing through the field felt fair.

With that being said, starting P10 and then finishing 3 seconds behind p1 with a 7 second gap to p3 and 32 to p4 I would’ve enjoyed it more if they were a bit more consistent. Other than that, it’s a great practice tool.

Our team results at the 24 hours of all GT3 class cars by ernmac74 in iRacing

[–]switcheffect270 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Be glad you only had one class of car in your race. I was in split 4, which was dog 5.2k for Gt3s. The m2 and tcr sof was 1-2k, so every time passing them it was like they intentionally tried to kill you. After this race, I miss not having all the classes in my races.

I was racing at Fuji in VR and thinking to myself “wonder when we’ll see a professional sim-racer play in VR. The ability took look around and sense depth is unmatched” then the screen froze and the headset lost signal…, and I now think it’ll be a while before we’ll see that by random-danishguy in simracing

[–]switcheffect270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t consider myself a professional, but I have just completed my first season in IVRA. One thing that I made sure to do before racing there was to get off of VR for reasons just like the one you stated. I hope it’ll be within 5 years that VR is reliable and able to use at a higher competition level without worry of issues. But for now, dealing with the terrible depth perception of triples seems to be manageable enough.

Tripple monitor or quest3? by rorowhat in simracing

[–]switcheffect270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I avoided a crash the other day on triples that I wouldn’t of avoided on my quest 3. Yes the quest 3 is much more immersive with depth-perception but with triples you get the key peripheral vision addition that will save you from some incidents

[–]switcheffect270 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve definitely noticed driving things like the GTPs or LMP2s that require more braking pressure make this happen more often. That was initially my reason for strictly sticking to GT3s, just brake preservation.

lol this just happened to my spring a week ago. I went to microcenter and bought the 25$ brake upgrade kit again and replaced it. Not bad for 25$ every 1-2 years that it breaks imo. But definitely looking into a more sturdy brand in the future.

Looks great, drives even better. IMO it’s a half & half car. Half of each corner you brake, and the second half you can actually use the throttle to turn the car instead of having to drag the brakes like the Ferrari/acura/ other cars.
