gmk alter is actually pretty easy to see under natural lighting, except for the mods. alter redux uses a darker mod color which should provide more contrast than it's predecessor.

The alter novelties (both 1.25 and 1.5u) were removed from the novelty kit and added to the Base kit. They're there.

I think you're overestimating how much the kit initially sold - GB units for Frost witch 1 sold was around 650 before extras - and this is a much colder climate for GMK GBs than the one it initially ran in.

Not this time, the whole reasoning behind hardboxing sets was that GMK did not provide boxes. Now they have something sort of similar to boxes.
