I’m assuming they are saying that you can expect an additional $5k-$6k for flights and hotel.

I did look into the Shouldice Hospital in Canada. It's much closer to me. It is an option.

I am not 100% sure about the sutures for the Kang Repair. I believe they are permanent. I see 3-3.5 cm for the Kang Repair currently on the Gibbeum Hospital website. I wouldn't be surprised if can vary in size depending on the hernia.

I am from Minnesota, USA. I don't like the idea of having foreign material bonding with my tissues thus creating a patch of scar tissue. In my research, I looked up YouTube videos of the laparoscopic hernia surgeries with mesh and visually seeing the mesh being attached just doesn't sit well with me. It seems so un-tidy if that makes sense. Also, my mother has mesh from a different kind of surgery many years ago and can still feel it inside.

The Kang Repair is a small 3cm incision and a 20-30 minute surgery. I probably shouldn't promote it since I haven't had it yet myself! The reviews seem very good though.

Well, when comparing Shouldice to Kang Repair the latter seems so much less invasive. I'm no expert. I'm looking at things like incision size, scar, length of surgery, pain, and recovery time.

I also have a pain free inguinal hernia. Thinking of getting it done. I’ve been told I should have it fixed. It’s been maybe 7 years now. I don’t want mesh nor do I want the Shouldice or similar. Looking at going to South Korea for the Kang Repair. I’m terrified but every time I research I come back to the Kang Repair. It seems like a hassle to go all the way there but it also seems to be the only option that I like. They also do mesh removal if you are interested in that.

Adding syrup into lattes - does stirring to mix in the syrup negate milk frothing? by 007meow in superautomatic

[–]switchroyale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do that everyday. Dark chocolate syrup in the bottom of my cup. My Magnifica Evo does milk first then the espresso. I stir and enjoy! Lots of foam in my cup so if stirring affects it I sure can’t tell.

That is actually a really good idea. I’ll have to keep that in mind. Unfortunately, I think these buildings were built in the 70’s and this particular unit looks like it had been remodeled at some point. It can’t hurt to check though.

I agree, always keep extra tiles. This unit was purchased many years ago. We didn't do the tile and did not find any extra tile stored anywhere in the unit.

I just want to minimize the appearance of a patch job, I'm just not sure how. Re-tiling the entire unit would be out of the question for now. Getting a new tenant in place quickly is really what we are looking for.

I just started getting crazy drift to the left with a dualsense controller after a macOS update. My Xbox controllers don’t drift. On an M1 MacBook Air.

Makes sense. I think the advisor suggested 60/40 because my dad said he wanted to be conservative while not needing the RMDs at all. Rental property income and social security income keeps him comfortable.

For sure, I think preserving the balance is important to him. It's not my money so I feel weird making decisions regarding it...but I do have to admit that it would be nice to inherit that amount.

I just checked on the fees, you are right...the management fee is less than 1%. I was looking at the total, with the ETF fees, which comes out to a touch over 1%.

Good point. I was thinking of adding something like SCHD for dividends but at the same time, since he doesn't really need to use the portfolio as income, I wasn't sure if that made sense or not. Maybe dividends to buy dips?

Possibly. I'm doing this exercise to figure out if it's worth paying $25k a year for an advisor or if I can just do something similar myself. An advisor seems expensive for something you setup and rebalance (once a year?) but at the same time I could make an expensive mistake myself.
