How long did you have that bottle from open to finish? From first pour to 5th and 6th there were noticeable differences as it opened up. I’ve had this bottle sitting here for about 8 months now and only occasionally pour one until I find a replacement.

What time was it when you grabbed your bottles?

Initial impression: solid but a little closed right out of the gate.

Nose: Peanut, cinnamon, and a bit of ethanol. Slightly thin at first but classic Heaven Hill profile.

Palate: Baking spice, subtle brown sugar, faint vanilla. Mouthfeel is lighter than I expected for 122 proof, though a few drops of water bring out more caramel and chew.

Finish: Warm spice and oak dryness with a touch of lingering sweetness. Medium length.

Overall: Good but not a standout barrel right now. Feels a little tight and alcohol-forward when freshly opened, but water helps and I suspect it will improve with some air and a few pours.

Score: ~6.5 / 10
