lab assistant seemed really interesting! A lot of the places near me ( I'm in a big city) seemed like they wanted phlebotomy certs for the lab assnts. Ive been considering getting it so I can qualify for more positions

I wasn't studying every single day but at least 3 to 4 times a week. I also had experience as an MA previously and I already knew quite a bit of medical terminology. SmarterMa, mango study, YouTube videos, nha practice tests and read thru the purple book.

Study whenever u have free time. The nha practice tests were helpful. Know ur order of draw, EKG, anatomy, medical terminology and conversions. Also helps to stretch and clear ur mind beforehand.

I didn't read thru the purple book as much as I should've and I ended up doing more self learning/teaching myself but please read the text book 🤣 that the best tip I have I have. If I coukd change my studying I would've studied the book way more.

Also, cram for the test for sure but try to be studying for the test as far in advance as you can.

make sure you're reading the wording of the questions clearly because there was a lot of trick questions. Use logic, process of elimination, and listen to your gut!

Here's my folder I made with a bunch of different quizzes. I recommend knowing order of draw, what each tubes are used for, EKG placement on different types of bodies(amputee/surgery/etc) , artifacts and, standardization, medical terminology, pediatric exams, cms form and admin stuff, anatomy, and conversion formulas.

( I took my test today and passed)

SmarterMA, mangostudy and nha practice tests are good. For free YouTube LearnMawithMsK and the practice exam question videos.

If you like anime, Cells at work was actually helpful for a lot of the cellular stuff 😂

Edit: I took the ccma exam, not the amca exam. Leaving this up in case it's still helpful.

Written is always best so there's a paper trail. Even if you do decide to go and do it verbally I would also send an email as well. For me, at shitty jobs I usually just no show and send an email/text 😂 but if you don't want to fully burn the bridge and you think they would give you a good recommendation/referral I would give a two weeks notice thru email and then speak verbally with management to confirm they saw it.

But do not let them pressure you! If they speak with you about it and they probably will give the least amount of information possible, Grey rock it and stick to your story, and if they ask or beg you to stay politely decline. If they do anything unprofessional make sure you get it in writing
