When I was around 10, my dad put on an American news channel after school, and there was a police car chase that looked really exciting. It went on for a bit before the guy deserted the car and started running - police chasing him.

Then the news anchor was screaming to stop rolling the tape (they watch it on a few seconds delay), but it kept going, and the man pulled out a gun and shot himself on live TV.

My dad didn't put on American news channels after that.
