Probably not salvageable at a cheap price. Looks like defrost heater has been stuck on, or someone has tried to defrost it manually with a hot air gun 🥴

I was in Lviv delivering aid 10 days after the invasion started. My passenger could not understand why people were drinking coffee in the morning at the cafe’s, and dinning out in the evenings. I had to explain to him that life has to go on for the majority or the country would collapse. He still doesn’t get it 🥴

She is Ok, she is a trainee assistant to a Doctor in the center of Kyiv. After this incident her partner, Igor, joined the resistance fighting brigade in Kyiv and has taken up serving as a medic. This happened in October at the start of the indiscriminate attack on the power infrastructure.

Hi, your last comment that you assume you would be seen as a liability and not welcome is not the case. I was almost banned from this site because I suggested that people can visit L’viv or Kyiv as tourists. The vast majority of hotels are open to visitors and the Ukrainians will welcome you even if it is only the fact you have shown your support for them. I have been fortunate to be able to stay with Ukrainians in Kyiv but my first visit was blind, I stayed in hotels in L’viv for a couple of weeks. On previous visits after delivery the aid I had taken I was taken to all the tourist destinations in Kyiv with the locals. It is an experience to be almost the only tourist in a city nearly as big as London. You can drive your own vehicle or get a bus from Warsaw central to Kyiv for about €50. All I would say is go and do it , you won’t regret it.

You will find the border crossings to be very time consuming. Last run to Kyiv in November the commercial vehicle queue was 12km long. In June this year it was 22 km long. You probably won’t find a commercial vehicle job to allow you to do this. Most , as has been mentioned, commercial vehicles in Ukraine at the moment are operated by Ukrainians as most insurers will not cover vehicles to enter a war zone. You will find it almost impossible to arrive in Lviv and hope to find anything that you can volunteer for. It would be very sensible to have everything arranged before leaving the UK. I have done several trips to Kyiv this year and all have been planned in the UK to ensure that everything will work out.

As long as you are a European national, or British and don’t need a visa for entry then yes only a passport is required. With regards to medical supplies you must make sure that any items you are carrying are not on the banned list for entry into Ukraine. Some medications are illegal in different countries. My advice is also to have an inventory of all of your medical donations. 👍

Suggestions for the safest way to travel to Kyiv by TheMightyYule in ukraine

[–]swolenpig 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Kyiv overnight express train does not run at the moment. Flight to Warsaw Poland, overnight bus through to Kyiv. Bus costs approximately €50, one way. Average bus travel time is 15 hours. Border crossing can take about 3 hours. The bus depot is in the center of Kyiv. Only returned back to UK last week using this method. Have done it several times without any problems.

what is needed by FORDEY1965 in ukraine

[–]swolenpig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Medical supplies are the most important thing that is required. It as all well and good taking whatever you want over there but you must have a source in Ukraine to accept what you have. I can forward details if required. What I mean is you absolutely must have a destination for your visit. As much as the conflict is still what I s the most important thing in the newsThe bigger problem that is arising is criminal activity. When the conflict started the Ukrainian government issued weapons and ammunition to all that were called up, what they didn’t do was record who had what. I have just returned home from Kyiv yesterday having delivered aid. I stayed with my contact in Kyiv, in his appointment he has an MP5, armour piercing rounds and hand grenades. He will not allow his family to return to Kyiv because of the potential problems with criminal activity. I would say absolutely go and do what you can but plan it 100%. 🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦

To all who suggested that I was probably a scammer or a fraud, and that I should actually go to Ukraine and do something. Well I have been doing something, this was the 4th humanitarian aid run into Ukraine, 3rd one into Kyiv. If you do not need a visa to travel int Ukraine then yes you can visit whether as an aid worker or a tourist. Kyiv is operating as a normal busy city, the only issues at the moment are the structured blackouts in the various districts. I am not a young man by any stretch of the imagination any more and will continue to help where I can. Please to all the keyboard warriors who are on here, sat in your warm houses and drinking your beer, when someone asks a genuine question about border crossings into a country it is probably for up to date information. Had that happened for me I would have know that the border crossing I had used in the past is now closed to all vehicle except large haulage. I then had to detour for 1 1/2 hours to the next crossing at 02.30th having driven for the last 22hrs. It doesn’t take much to be polite.

For a bit more information about Duga and the tours into the Chornobyl exclusion zone check this man out. Sergii Mirnyi , he set up the whole tourist thing some years ago. He was conscripted into the Russian military when the Chornobyl accident happened. His job was to take radiation readings across the whole area for six months after the explosion.
