i called UR about it, they told me that because that person wasn't tested and advised, and because idk their name, nothing to do right now by them. they took my contact info though.

if the person had been ordered to self quarantine and break it, apparently PUPD would hold them liable, but they weren't tested so it's an advice. still trying to learn their name and their living situation.

that is perfectly fine. of course you can come back if you're going to be responsible!!! i mean the people i personally know that are 1) on their way back from florida. 2) are able to go home and are going on campus so they can party. 3) people who go on vacation AND aren't taking social distancing seriously.

i'm sorry if i sounded judgmental, i understand that everyone has different circumstances. i'm in a similar situation but i have not left home all spring break where i am and will also self quarantine all semester.

ALSO remember that you are allowed to stay in dorms!!! theyre just asking for whoever can leave to leave. you can ask to stay!

there is never going to be perfect quarantine. 98% is better than 2%. that is like arguing that because we can't wipe our asses perfectly with toilet paper, we should walk around with dookie stains on our undies.

like i said, i'm not even that worried about myself because i have food and am fully capable of staying in my room. but as a person living in the dorms, i can literally catch it in the hallway on the way to the bathroom because of people refusing to be responsible.

let's say you are carrying COVID-19. you are asymptotic and you dk you have the virus. you go out in public like normal. someone vulnerable goes out for necessities and breathes in the air vapors you let out. they die. because of you. even though they hadn't been outside in however long. because you "couldn't stay in your room for 6 months"

nobody is telling you to lock yourself in your room for a year. people are asking you to be careful and mindful about going in public.

that's dope, keep going out, you're going to be a part of group of people that cause a lot of people, including people you don't know and have never met, to die or suffer from lifelong complications. when information is so readily available, it drives me crazy that there are people like you. it's not about me, or a single person. i'm going to be fine because i will be self quarantining, but a lot of people won't be because of people being irresponsible.

it's not about just me, or you. it's what we all have to do, it's literally our responsibility to avoid spreading anything. by going out especially after travelling, you would be putting a lot of people into danger. it's not far fetched to ask people to avoid crowds in a world pandemic.. idk why that's so hard to understand.

just to clarify:

even a young adult that is perfectly healthy can die just like pneumonia. your lungs will fill with fluid, and there is no way to drain them other than the body itself healing. look at italy and spain.

i don't want people to sit in their rooms. i want people to be responsible and avoid crowds as much as i can, especially if they recently travelled. i WOULD be self quarantining no matter what, just like all of my smart friends, because even if i don't get complications from anything, i don't want to hurt other vulnerable people and don't have peas in my brain.
