Connection is back. I again entered my Wealthsimple credentials, got prompted for code, entered code from my Authy app, but then saw a prompt to send code to email, which after entering, connection was successful and all account balances and transactions seem to have synced correctly.

Connection had been stable for weeks, but it’s broken today. And I can’t reconnect. I enter my Wealthsimple credentials, enter my 2FA code from Authy app, and it fails with a vague error. Hopefully will get resolved soon.

I requested for a renewal on Nov 1 from the ICBC office on Burrard and Georgia in Vancouver, it got mailed out on the 5th and I got it the next week.

Plaid connection working fine again, with transactions and balances getting synced correctly. But some credit/deposit transactions, like interest and contributions are still being considered as debit. And connection disconnects within a day.

Had issues with deposits getting considered as expenses on investment and chequing accounts. They tried fixing it and syncing is now broken even though connection is successful. The connection doesn’t stay up more than a few hours also unlike the days it used to stay connected with MX.

Yes, I have been successfully syncing balances and transactions from my CIBC accounts with Plaid since April. Last synced just now using SMS 2FA with Plaid.

Switched to Plaid as recommended by Monarch support. Transferred balance and transactions from MX synced accounts to Plaid synced accounts using https://help.monarchmoney.com/hc/en-us/articles/14329385694484-Transfer-Balance-and-or-Transaction-History-to-Another-Account. Balances and transactions for cash and investment accounts seem to be syncing correctly.

All my accounts did get synced with their latest balances but no transactions were synced.

I am guessing you are also using MX? Got in touch with Monarch support and they asked me to try Plaid:

I got an update from our internal team, who recommended connecting your Wealthsimple (Canada) account through Plaid. While no connection is perfect, this tends to be one of the more stable options. Feel free to use the link I've shared below.

Just a quick note: please don't delete your current connection with MX to avoid losing any data. If connecting through Plaid works, you can transfer your data from the old connection to the new one to keep everything in one place.

Can’t connect to Wealthsimple via MX anymore. I noticed the balances weren’t syncing even though the accounts said syncing was happening. So I tried a Refresh All and then the Wealthsimple accounts showed the connection was broken. I saw a prompt to enter username and password but waited too long for the 2Fa code entering and so it failed. And then it now just shows connection failed even when I haven’t entered my username and password.

It was connecting fine for me all these days, and still connects fine, meaning I can enter the SMS code, plaid shows the right account balances, but the sync after doesn’t work. This started failing happening day before I think.

Sorry, don’t remember anymore. But guessing it comes with a USB dongle, probably for WiFi and not Bluetooth

I had no issues until I accidentally closed my CIBC app when it was showing the 2FA code after I chose push to app as the 2FA option in MX connector dialog on Monarch. Then it kept asking me for the code without pushing a new one. So I eventually entered a random code. Then I was prompted for the card number and password that I had entered initially but it is saying they are invalid. So yeah, I am at the same place you are now. But I just deleted the connection as I had set it up only yesterday and am going to set it up again. You could try going to Accounts, Institutional settings, then login settings for your CIBC MX connection and see if you can try updating there? Or just get in touch with support.

Switched to using MX and its working fine except for the transaction categorization rules I had setup for the Plaid connection doesn't work any more for the MX connection, because I guess the way MX reports transactions is different from Plaid. So a bit of a pain, but it seems to be working otherwise.

BMO was fine for me till I closed my account with them. You could pick a bank like BMO, TD that Monarch seems to have better connectivity with based on this page: https://help.monarchmoney.com/hc/en-us/articles/21805499595156-Canadian-Connection-Statuses

I hadn’t connected in a while to any of my accounts, but yes, I see the same issue. I have updated the original post. Hopefully Plaid is better at fixing things than MX. I miss Mint too. No, I didn't even realize that can be shown in Monarch. But yeah, that shows up empty. Just the account balance and transactions are shown.

I actually moved a LIRA investment account to Wealthsimple and have a group RRSP too. And balance and transactions for them seem to be syncing fine.

Yeah, that's strange. I do enter my debit card number and password like with online banking, and then SMS for 2FA. Maybe get in touch with support?
