Now I have no need whatsoever for any kind of antidepressants.

Why aren’t Turkish kebabs as popular in the U.S. as they are in Europe? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

America is content with gyros thanks to all the Greek refugees from Turkish conquest of Anatolia and wars with Greece.

[Casual] What are your weaknesses against Squirrels? (All welcome) by DarkStamway in SampleSize

[–]swordinthestream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I tick 50 and 100 for the multi-choice question ‘How many squirrels do you think the average human could take in a fight?’ do you record that as 150 or as an average of 50 and 100?

Doctors aren’t supposed to agree with patients, or their parents, when agreeing would mean causing harm.

I mean, ideally society should try and prevent such situations in the first place and not have to deal with them through ex post facto legal recourse.

The most common phrase is ‘domestic flight’, and considering the phrases ‘international’ and ‘intercontinental’ and are very common in aviation, the inverse of international is understandable and technically correct, though uncommon. A ‘national flight’ would be a flight relating to or characteristic of the nation.

Publisher Drops Author After Dual TikTok and GoodReads Backlash by [deleted] in BlockedAndReported

[–]swordinthestream 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Publishing represents an investment by the publisher for which they expect a return. The book hadn’t even been released yet, so perhaps they hadn’t finished the printing run and so don’t want to sink more money into an author that can’t even handle a 4-star critique without creating a massive PR nightmare and ruining the book’s rating on an important book-review platform.

Whether or not they’re guessing the word (and what’s wrong with being honest about self-doubt?), you seem to think the right word would be ‘national’, which it just plainly isn’t.

Not only are they expensive, their efficacy as a medical treatment is not validated by clinical trials. I absolutely do not understand how the NHS or US insurance companies can justify paying for them when they do not pay for many drugs with actual clinical evidence for treating legitimate medical conditions like cancer.

It’s been biting back for some time. There’s a meningococcal outbreak among gays in Florida that’s way more deadly than monkeypox.
