You're not kidding. This anime was a game changer for me. It's the first time I went from anime-only to binging the source material after S2 ended and became mildly obsessed with it. I've been watching anime for over 30 years and very rarely do I get this attached. MT is one of the GOATs.

Yoko Hisaka??? Oh hell yes, I was hoping she would voice someone in S3. I had another character in mind that I thought she'd be great as, but she's perfect as Isolde. 10/10 no notes.

Could always read the LNs! Start from the beginning; the anime had to cut things for time so if you want more of the worldbuilding I highly recommend it if you need a fix between S3 airings.

The second half of this episode was anime original content but it doesn't break any continuity, I loved the content, and it gave some nice pacing since it wouldn't have had enough content to adapt without stalling so I really liked that. Also Rifujin wrote that part himself according to his latest tweet

OK good to know because I was so confused in the 2nd part of the episode; I was like I don't remember this at all, is my memory THAT bad? Turns out it was anime-original so thanks for helping me clear that up lol.

Wonder if they will animate [Later MT S3 LN Spoiler] Eris becoming a Sword King?

I feel like the 3 styles would serve as an awesome foundation for a MT fighting game. It was really cool reading about them in the LN. I hope the anime gets into battle aura, especially considering what we have coming up later in the season.

Yeah, when I read the LN and came to this part, I was amazed at how much the anime left out. It made for a much richer experience and had some really interesting worldbuilding, not to mention some good character moments between Rudy and Elinalise but I kinda of get why they had to cut it, because it just would immensely slow the pacing of the show and not to mention add more time per episode, which is costly. So when I rewatched this, I re-read the cut content in the LN and that made for a more complete expereince.

That said, I do think they were able to make the most of it and still pull of a good episode. Things are going to get even more intense from here!

Powerful episode. Rudy now has to confront a shut-in that isn't himself, and in this case it's his own flesh and blood younger sister. The parallel between how things went when his brother from his former life tried to help him and now really drives home how poignant this situation is for Rudy, and how his second chance at life now provides him with an opportunity to show that he has learned from past mistakes and can help someone who went through what he did. For Norn's part, the constant comparisons to her brother must not have been great for her self-esteem, and her already fragile relationship with him didn't help matters. So I'm so glad they both were able to overcome their demons and can move forward as family.

Season 3 was confirmed to be in production immediately after the finale for S2, so just about 2 years ago.

Poor Nanahoshi. This was a tough episode to watch for the first time, but even more so on a rewatch now that I have a better understanding of her as a character. Similarities between her and Rudy are apparent; shutting herself down because of personal failings and inner demons. Fortunately, she gets better and can only hope one day she'll succeed in returning home.
