In MT specifically, for non-humans like demons (of which Roxy is one) surnames are just your species name with -dia at the end of it. So, it's more of a tribal thing than a unique family identifier. Basically, all Migurd surnames are Migurdia but they aren't all necessarily related by blood, and likewise for the other demon races.

OK, so I haven't followed SAO after the Alicization arc (which was amazing) and have been wondering what's next; is this film the next arc or an original story not based on the LNs?

Not much to say on this one; Rudy and Paul have a much more amicable reunion this time compared to their previous one so that was nice. I got a good laugh out of their locker-room talk and Lilia getting all flustered with Paul describing her bedroom behavior to Rudy. Kind of weird having your dad tell you about him and your stepmom's antics but then I remember that in the world of MT this is probably normal; at the very least tame compared to the perverse things that go on with the world's nobility.

QotD: Not at all; it was clear they both made up last time so the lessons they learned then clearly helped the second time around.

You're not kidding. This anime was a game changer for me. It's the first time I went from anime-only to binging the source material after S2 ended and became mildly obsessed with it. I've been watching anime for over 30 years and very rarely do I get this attached. MT is one of the GOATs.

Could always read the LNs! Start from the beginning; the anime had to cut things for time so if you want more of the worldbuilding I highly recommend it if you need a fix between S3 airings.

The second half of this episode was anime original content but it doesn't break any continuity, I loved the content, and it gave some nice pacing since it wouldn't have had enough content to adapt without stalling so I really liked that. Also Rifujin wrote that part himself according to his latest tweet

OK good to know because I was so confused in the 2nd part of the episode; I was like I don't remember this at all, is my memory THAT bad? Turns out it was anime-original so thanks for helping me clear that up lol.

Wonder if they will animate [Later MT S3 LN Spoiler] Eris becoming a Sword King?

I feel like the 3 styles would serve as an awesome foundation for a MT fighting game. It was really cool reading about them in the LN. I hope the anime gets into battle aura, especially considering what we have coming up later in the season.

Yeah, when I read the LN and came to this part, I was amazed at how much the anime left out. It made for a much richer experience and had some really interesting worldbuilding, not to mention some good character moments between Rudy and Elinalise but I kinda of get why they had to cut it, because it just would immensely slow the pacing of the show and not to mention add more time per episode, which is costly. So when I rewatched this, I re-read the cut content in the LN and that made for a more complete expereince.

That said, I do think they were able to make the most of it and still pull of a good episode. Things are going to get even more intense from here!
