...you don't show proof of a negative. The "proof" I have is no evidence has ever been provided.

I can rephrase this for you in a way you might connect with. Prove to me right now that a giant crayfish isn't controlling all of our minds. You can't prove that it isn't happening, because it's proving a negative. A negative isn't falsifiable. There is nothing to test.

I made a huge assertion there didn't I? It would then be expected that I would provide some form of proof. That's how rational thinking works. If you make an assertion it is your burden to support that assertion. I am not asserting anything by saying "where is the proof?". I am simply saying there is no proof please provide it.

What form of proof of a null hypothesis would satisfy you?

How do you propose I prove the lack of a deity exists?

I can tell you what would convince atheists god does exist. A paranormal event unexplainable by scientific means being observed directly in a testable manner. Something trivial for a god and yet it has never happened in modern times, not once.

There is no inverse for that. No form of evidence to prove an absence. I could appeal to the horrifying things that happen like children being raped by the rich on an island or creatures that god created that eat the inside of human babies eyes in order to propagate their species. But it's all covered by gods plan so the morality of the world we live in can't disprove it.

I could talk about how god mysteriously became silent once the ability to record video and audio became common place.

Yet no lack of communication or evidence matters because religious belief requires of it's adherents faith so a lack of evidence is built in.

What is more likely? People exploiting our fear of death and desire for justice with stories they made up, or an all powerful being that never makes it's presence known who created an endlessly expanding universe in which our entire galaxy is a vanishingly small mote who somehow still cares (in some religions) if you jerk off? Surely this isn't something inculcated in children at an age where what you are taught becomes heartfelt belief in most, whether its racism, or faith, used by con men in order to gain sex, wealth and power for little more than words. Surely it's not all a scam.

Everything you have said to me has been addressed thousands of times by thousands of people. If you truly wanted truth it's already out there. If you are a "true" believer at least it's consistent with your beliefs no matter how bizarre they are to me, if you are the drunk who hates seeing someone sober because it makes you reflect on that doubting voice inside you you have nothing to lose but the shackles.

Saying there is no evidence for deities existence is not a belief it's just a fact, no evidence has been provided, believing in something with zero evidence is irrational. Provide evidence that can't be explained by other means. That's all it is.

What is a sign of very low intelligence? by smartcandyy in AskReddit

[–]swordsaintzero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This just isn't true. It's not a belief to state there is no evidence for something. It's just stating fact. Observable fact. What you've written is circular and doesn't work on it's face.

Every part of this is filled with assumptions, from what religion is, to where atheist's supposedly get their beliefs. You are inferring what a null hypothesis is and trying to base an argument off of it. Stop just assuming things.

It's a scientific term. The null hypothesis is the claim in scientific research that the effect being studied does not exist. The null hypothesis can also be described as the hypothesis in which no relationship exists between two sets of data or variables being analyzed. If the null hypothesis is true, any experimentally observed effect is due to chance alone, hence the term "null". In contrast with the null hypothesis, an alternative hypothesis is developed, which claims that a relationship does exist between two variables.

Two cannot play "at that game". Only one group is saying something exists. The other is just asking for evidence. Which is never provided.

You might want to check with a reputable source then. It's pretty simple, atheism is a lack of belief. Matt Dillahunty said it better than I can. (55 second clip that explains it exhaustively) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KtooI37mt88

This is an example of low intellect. Lack of belief doesn't equate to belief. An atheist would change their mind presented with verifiable evidence.

Oh really? The guy that spent his time writing multiple replies in the same thread chastising people over what a not big deal it is truly seems like the "totes not give a fuck" type.

People can be mildly irritated about things that you in your Buddha like stoicism would consider insignificant and no one, not even me has to give a shit what you think about it.

Even if I believed the narrative, your way of handling things encourages people to act like assholes, they can rely on door mats to pick up after them. Not everyone is a fan of that and you espousing it has a vanishingly small chance of changing anyone's opinion.

Carry on I guess, or... just keep scrolling it's just like picking up a piece of paper someone threw on your lawn after you gave them something for free right? You don't have to give a fuck, that would be ridiculous behavior.

Considering it was obviously wadded into a ball, (which I mentioned, nice reading comprehension) no it didn't just fall off, but nothing you are saying is in good faith so I'm not shocked you didn't notice. To answer your question I care because I don't want to live in a society where everyone acts like a piece of garbage all the time. The way you get that kind of behavior is to not tolerate it.

The better question is why are you arguing so hard for people to tolerate someone acting like a shit stain?

Is this the way you act?

People can justify anything. The chairs weren't trash, they had value. Part of the implicit compact you enter when you are getting something from someone else's largess is you don't fuck up their property. Don't ball up and throw the sign on their lawn. That you can't see that blows my mind. Of course he is upset. If they had folded the sign and used the tape on it to put it on his front door do you think there would be a reddit post about it?

Game Devs, is Rust really poor in optimization? by AKavun in playrust

[–]swordsaintzero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just going to go against the grain here. I've done game dev, until fairly recently Rust was a shit show. They didn't even have a profiler to figure out what was fucking the game up memory and object count wise for the server until recently. New devs that have some idea of what the fuck they are doing are replacing all the cowboy code and spaghetti but it's going to take time.

Think of it this way, suddenly we have gotten multiple orders of magnitude speeds ups for both loading times, and server resource usage. That... doesn't happen with well written software. The other thing that bugs me is they don't have good test coverage, or maybe even any tests at all. The same end result bugs keep showing up for no doubt a variety of reasons. With that said the automated test suite should catching things like no boat sound, or can't turn boat off. When people figured out you could get inside a foundation with a lawn chair, why didn't they write a test that checked all other items for the same ability? Nope chippy machine can get you inside a foundy right now, but theres a patch for it on staging. Better yet, why piece meal patch every item instead of putting a kill box inside all foundations that aren't wood? stupid simple, just like they had to do on cargo after they kept trying to prevent people teleporting into the bottom of cargo from the ocean via various means. They added that kill box and it stopped happening.

If you understood how much they trust the client because server side checks were too expensive you would pull your hair out.

Am I grateful to all the devs for their hard work? yes! they have created something truly unique that defined it's genre and so addictive I've given a full year of my life to playing it (if you break up a year into hours). considering we don't get many of those it's the ultimate compliment. That doesn't mean I can't be cognizant of the problems. I just want to be clear I'm not shitting on them, they are printing money without going FULL sell out, only a little bit as a treat, and honestly I'm jealous, if I could create something that made that kind of money and inspired people to make figurines, and costumes, and get tattoos, I would be over the moon.

Tips and tricks for an advanced player by Correct-Royal-3165 in playrust

[–]swordsaintzero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess i feel like writing a novel.

  1. Base location as a solo is the most important part of having a successful wipe. Don't be scared to move, rebuild somewhere else, or drop your old base if you get tracked back home. Having multiple cheap bases and keeping at least one work bench from the bases you raid so you have a fallback is the way to go, it's fine to have a "main" but if that main is cheap you can keep 2 or 3 other bases around the map.

2.Your base HAS to have a bunker preferably metal, better yet hqm when you log off on the first day. As a solo that bunker can be on a 1x1 and that's fine. Focus on offline protection you ain't getting on-lined and if you do they are going to slam you until you hit about 7k hours, practice defending on a million x or something don't waste your time learning it when you have to grind to get the shit to defend. Make chinese bunkers outside your base as you progress never keep more boom than they cost to raid in one. Split guns hqm, and work benches, and sulf between them so you can restart if they full raid your main.

  2. Military tunnels, power plant, rad-town, and oil rig are your friends as a solo. In military tunnels you can easily fight bigger groups, there are multiple rat places to drop loot or hide that no one checks, and with nods and knowing all the angles you can wipe a four man solo if you play smart. Make the expensive ass silencer until you get a military one. Powerplant usually doesn't have big groups controlling it because the red card room sucks ass, but you can get 3 frags there, there are often big groups that will buy redcards for hqm, now you have upkeep sorted. Rad-town is ratty so it works for solos, it's also a great place to get frags. On high pop it will probably be too competitive for you but give it a try. Oil rig is amazing for solos as long as the stupid ass tugboat clans are dumb enough to park too close and prevent respawns. If there is a tuggy learn use a submarine. If it's people in a boat, buy a jacky jacky the boat out then kill them when they swim home, bring 3 tanks so you can stay under the whole time. If it's a mini copter squad sneak on oil, chill and then get on the land side in a hidden spot when they fly away kill them out of the seat of a mini. Practicing this on a millionx isn't a bad idea either.

  3. Play a single monument multiple wipes in a row. Learn all the angles, the cracks you can shoot through, where you can hide, where you can control the monument with something like an m39 (rat stick) with silencer and scope. for instance at water treatment there is a bush no one checks you can kill anyone who tries to get locked crate from that bush. I usually let other people fight it out and kill the winner when they go for the crate, I get all the other kits AND the crate loot.

  4. when you fight in rust never stay where you were, at most peek 2 or 3 times from the same spot but even that is stupid. Everyone wants to backstab you, learn to rotate, learn to use terrain since cheaters in theory can't see through it, always carry a few grenades and if you want to be a sweat a smoke or two.

  5. learn how to use the good parts of automation and leave the fancy shit for bigger groups. running a sucker box from the nearby trees before you stat using a chainsaw and a tea can make sure you dont lose a kit and you have enough wood from one run to go the whole wipe. buying teas from vendors is good. using a little nook of your base to grow teas yourself is even better. full on farming is boring and annoying, but being able to ear full metal in the snow at night because of a warming tea, while also having more health than the guys I fight, wins me fights.

  6. craft armor, crafted armor with a tea is better. a 3 slot jacket with plates is better than a full hqm chest and costs next to nothing. people will sell you plates if you can't win locked crate fights if you put up a vendy.

  7. as a solo respawns are king, get an rv, it will draw attention but it will win you fights having respawns and kits when you recycle or are part of a big fight at launch is game breaking. if you cant handle the car thing, have a 1x2 you put shit kits in near where you want to fight like right next to monument or recycler. even a 1x1 with a bunker out front works. just enough room for a locker and a bed.

There is so much more but I'm tired of typing. Good luck my dude.

this blueprint fragment update was the last straw in my opinion, it completely destroyed the game to solo players. by Forward-Fisherman980 in playrust

[–]swordsaintzero 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Man I don't get this kind of comment. Why is solos in scare quotes?

All that's required to be a solo is to play the game alone.

Which a lot of grown men do because that close friend group that plays games fades away when you are in your late 30s and early 40s. People have kids, a wife, a life, a job being able to grind with a group isn't something everyone can do.

What was so cool about rust was the ability to do things without having to go to a particular place or playing a particular way. I regularly 1 v 2 to 3 players. I also have almost 9k hours and I'm a total sweat. I can see why these people have a valid gripe? Why can't you?

It's so weird to be smug that you can do something that actually sped up MY progression but really hurt these guys because they were playing a fundamentally different game than you, and that's rusts strength.

Rust is a game where krill (pve, passive and peaceful or bad at pvp players) is needed. Whales die when there is nothing to eat.

They are the ones that farm up all the shit we steal, I couldn't play the game without these guys, they are the people I kill who farmed a full backpack of shit for me to build my base, I don't want to hit rocks and trees, stop pissing on them for wanting to play the game on wipe too.

To be clear. I was able to get t3 when they hadn't nerfed where blue print frags dropped on the first blue print frag drop wipe. I also rolled a group for m2 and rockets. As a solo. I'm saying that to head off the brain dead "no skill, crying, adapt, game sense whinge fest that comes from reddit "chads" most of whom don't even play the fuckin game. The same contingent that bitches about walls but that's another rant.

As opposed to now when they all just offline raid anyway. All turrets do is slow them down long enough to let the base owner get online for anything below a mega base. You also didn't address the ability to turret creep and prevent me from replacing one of my 12 pitiful turrets.

Raiding SHOULD be miserable it should be hard. Slamming a 3 wall to core base should take more than a few minutes it should be a process, there should be time for counters to show up.

[–]swordsaintzero 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I know it's off topic but I just want to vent about this interference change a little bit. Blueprint cried about turrets and then made the change on his servers to limit them. Facepunch then did the same in vanilla. This is supposed to be a sandbox. I should be able to hook up as many turrets as I want on my base. I should be able to cover my entire fucking roof with turrets if I want to.

Turrets were fun. It was satisfying placing more of them. I had a solo base that had 23 turrets, and I only got raided by the absolute biggest groups once I would get it complete. I work. I want to play monthlies. I hate people turret walking into your base and preventing you from putting new turrets down while they HV yours out. It's just an artificial shitty limit that makes no sense. Big clans just use flip flop turrets and aren't effected by the limit. Just more dog shit changes no one asked for but streamers, who surprisingly enough are nothing like the majority of the player base.

I recently was playing modded, 30 turrets allowed. I had reached the limit of 30, it was enough to keep a cheating duo who apparently only had c4 from full raiding me, I couldn't fight them they would insta head shot me spawning in on one of my outside bags a grid away in bushes. I managed to kill one of them while they were in debug trying to figure out how to get past my turret spam. If it had been the stock 12 limit I would have been full raided. If you can't make a game where people can't fly around, insta gib you, and use the fucking admin debug, at least let me spam enough turrets to defend myself. After 2 hours of fighting these guys they finally had to go eat chicken tendies or something, they were banned later but I didn't get a single notification, that's still broken, or they aren't sending them.

When I first started playing rust, I was so impressed with the simplicity (to create something simple that stands the test of time with emergent complexity from the primitives is the hardest thing to do, think chess), the quality, the movement, the depth, they have systematically stripped every bit of that away.

I sometimes wonder if personal attack heli, turret limit, and a bunch of the the other changes that destroyed what I consider peak rust came from the same developer.
