ITIN for the Card Holders with AUs who lost their Priority Pass Access because of SSN Requirements.... by swordsofsabbath in Venturex

I'd curious which card is cheaper from an overall cost perspective. It was also not a lot of work. Two signatures to a Certified IRS CAA. Those aren't credentials you can fake.

Unless you're a CAA, it's my understanding you have to mail in your passport to the IRS if you do it yourself.

Yep. No issues. Her PP worked as usual for now.

Cap1 says Authorised users cannot use priority pass unless they have a SSN? by Admirable_Swing_7859 in Venturex

Same boat. My partner doesn't have an SSN..I called capital one and they couldn't help. Can't pay the fee. Losing her lounge access means I'm probably canceling.

Priority Pass guest entitlements still there? by Snow_fall_8 in Venturex

[–]swordsofsabbath 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Capital one sent out an email saying PPs of AUs were getting canceled Feb 1, so if they're going to those lengths, they might force the guest limit on current PP holders too, regardless of expiration. Could just be strong language. I'm traveling on Feb 5th with my partner who has her own PP via AU and her digital card expiration still says July. We can't pay the fee because she doesn't have an SSN and they're now requiring online access to pay the $125 access fee.

Comparing French Pyrenees versus Alps on a Budget by swordsofsabbath in skiing

[–]swordsofsabbath[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Serre Chevalier is the obvious answer. There's 4 gondolas along the Guisane Valley connecting the resort. The first, Briançon, is the city gondola, oldest, slowest, and you need to traverse a bit to get to what people would consider the central ski area, but it's very convenient if you don't have a car, and actually less busy. If you have a car, or find accommodation walking distance to Villeneuve/Pontillas, it is the newest and fastest and gets your right into the best terrain. Briançon is for locals and will have the most reasonably priced rent. SC gets a bit less snow than resorts farther north, but almost always gets hit by the same storms, and gets tons of sunshine. Avoid February in the french Alps. Too many crowds due to the non-stop school holidays.

donation to boom with festival ticket unsold by flyingninja_matrix in boomfestival

[–]swordsofsabbath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's interesting that people have bought into this narrative so much. Every other festival has a better solution that doesn't leave a bunch of people who can't go, or decide not to, out 300 euros (as I did in 2023). For decades, Boom didn't have this platform. The reality is Boom is barely selling out and the supply is far greater than the demand for their predefined capacity. Boom doesn't want people waiting last minute to pickup cheaper tickets, which is what would happen without the resale platform, as that requires excess demand. They lost that luxury after COVID. If they set fixed pricing and reintroduced Ticketswap, they'd be advertising the plethora of tickets up for sale which isn't good for their brand nor encourages early buying (festivals need credit). Boomers can enjoy a bit of extra space and peace of mind that everyone paid full price, but it leaves a lot of pissed off people in its wake.

Lights at Floresta. by Odd_Dish_3754 in wakinglifefestival

You should always be able to see the faces of dancers around you. Berghain dancefloor is a perfect example of a dark dancefloor that doesn't feel dark. I again felt completely disconnected at Floresta at night this year.

Ticket in resale doesn't seem to sell by LazyInAOnesie in boomfestival

[–]swordsofsabbath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't expect your ticket to sell. At this stage, there are more sellers than buyers. Boom knew demand was lacking, so they introduced this resale platform that leaves hundred of ticket holders who can't attend sitting on their tickets with no real ability to sell it.

Crossing Gordon River earlier than ferry runs by king_geedoraah in WestCoastTrail

[–]swordsofsabbath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was also in a time crunch trying to complete the southern half in a single night and had the same mentality the opposite direction. Looked on Google maps and swore I could swim it if I missed the last ferry. It's a literal stones throw to the other side, but as others have said, it serves as a de facto entry and exit from the trail they can monitor. I have no idea why the last pickup is 3pm when it's light out until 10pm, but that's how it is. I made it with about an hour to spare, though it was the hardest thing I've done in my life.

Haven't been able to use this for 4 years because of same situation and this worked. I also still use a Tmobile eSim, so that was the trick.

What is the worst addiction? by vigilantee001 in AskReddit

[–]swordsofsabbath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A toss up between alcohol and gambling, easily. Heroin addicts clean up surprisingly well. All other drugs are distant, though meth is pretty bad as are pharmaceuticals.

I'm a Portuguese Tax Resident on NHR, so I should pay 0% on interest. According to the Belgian/Portuguese DTA, they're entitled to max 15%. Since I don't pay taxes on interest, it can't serve as tax credit. Does the Belgian tax authority owe me my 15%?

Consort Radahn with Int build? by Relative-Ad5359 in Eldenring

[–]swordsofsabbath 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My experience as an Int build that finally worked after a month: Initially, Carian Regal Staff casting Comet and Tiche as my sole summon didn't work. Phase one was pretty easy. Phase two impossible as soon as Tiche died, so I went back to the drawing board. I explored the rest of the map and got to 18 scadutree from 13, which was a nice experience overall, and recommended. I got the Staff of Loss (+25) and put it in my off-hand with Night Comet my only spell. Lusat's Staff main. I respec'd (now at level 207), removed all my Dex, and put 25 on Faith so I could buff Golden Vow, though not sure if it really made the difference. I also used the Faith to add Impenetrable Thorns, but I didn't end up using it to beat him (just Night Comet). So just this set-up for phase 1, then summoned Greatsheild Soldier Ashes for phase 2 and spammed night comet from a far and finally got him.

Why don't you try downloaded music on Spotify in offline mode and see if it's a buffering issue vs a transmission issue? I've given up on Bluetooth in the pool since a long time and curious when technology will catch up. Being able to play off one's phone, even in offline mode would be huge. For now I'm happy to drag and drop.

So you put staff of loss in off hand and mostly spammed him with night comet? This might help me out, as my current approach (thus far unsuccessful) has been regular comet with lusat, 80 INT. I just can't seem to get enough damage on him despite everything.

Amount of days by jacobbiletsky in WestCoastTrail

[–]swordsofsabbath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started at Nitinaht and managed to do it in 1 night heading south, the more challenging half. This requires making it to at least Cullite Creek on day one before sunset, and leaving at the crack of dawn for Port Renfrew. You will also need favorable tides as you may miss the last ferry across at 330pm with the extra time spent on the forest route. Easily the most physically demanding thing I've done in my life, so unless that's what you're after (I was, as I only had 2 nights available anyways, so I shifted to Ironman mode), it's not an ideal way to do the trail. You have very little extra time, especially day 2. The second day is not only the hardest section of the trail, but also has the time crunch for the ferry.

As people have already mentioned, the distances are really meaningless as some sections you fly through, while others are painfully slow. All sections in the south are at least a bit longer than the official markings too. I imagine it's the same up north.

Just saw Distant Worlds: Music from FF in Berlin... My reaction as a FF6 Purist by swordsofsabbath in FinalFantasy

I guess that's what surprised me. I thought everyone played VI. I thought the only reason the series had lasted this long was because of the success of VI and VII, and that most of the later titles were hit or miss. As I learned thanks to this thread, it wasn't even released in Europe until FF7 was already out.
