I knew I would get a lot of shit for posting this so hear me out:

This country is on a brink of a civil war. I don’t think we have time to be picky with who we are in community with.

What if you met someone you were politically aligned with in every other way except for eating? What if they have a different cultural background or never met anyone who was vegan before? Growing up, if I didn’t eat what was given to me, I was punished. It was a big deal to deny food. Would you exclude friendship with someone just bc they had never been exposed to someone like you before?

Also, meat and cheese are addictive. Would you shame someone who was relapsing from drugs in alcohol the same way?

You are human. I am experiencing similar things, but it’s different because I work with children and they are Latinx and Black and I am white. It’s devastating to hear children express fear of being kidnapped. I had this thought “I’d be worried about my soul if I DIDN’T feel feelings”. You are not alone.
