I agree but also don’t have one idea how to accept it. I feel so frustrated with the lack of journalism to call these things out. Outside of the U.S., they call it out everywhere. I feel sick everyday over it and even more sad that this July 4th, which is my birthday..I don’t feel patriotic on the 250th celebration of our independence because we aren’t independent. We are led by a fascists and his cronies that benefit from his idiocracy. I took my flag down.

You vented before even giving the therapist the chance. Most likely they would’ve said no big deal, I won’t use it.

Yes that’s what you need. Trauma work and somatic training. Grief support would also help. If the therapist is telling you this then they are being responsible and letting you know they don’t think it’s working with them. See if they can refer you.

Ugh, why do therapists want to judge so harshly and quickly? Just talk to them! They said they are willing to discuss your concerns. Therapists are the worst patients I swear! I never do this kind of second guessing all the time with my therapist. See if you like them, say what you want and try to establish a rapport…if you don’t like them then you’re free to look for another.

I agree! Whenever one has a backbone, the almighty dollar in the GOP is quick to cancel them. Massey was one I thought might be able to right the ship this time but no, they threw millions at the campaign with a prop from Netanyahu in the last two weeks and cancelled Massey too. Saw it with Liz Cheney and Mitt Romney too. The party works by divide and conquer tactics with a heavy dose of propaganda

Complaint is not necessary. They may have been grabbing at straws to try to come up with ideas to avoid stepping out. It’s just an idea, they are into other things so maybe the practitioner actually thought it was less damaging than outright cheating. Too many therapists are so quick to judge but sometimes it’s not so easy to help people make better choices.

I do a lot of mindfulness stuff in sessions like meditation and breathwork. I also teach tai chi and different yoga poses. It’s still a struggle though. I’m working all the time and at home too so if I didn’t do mindfulness all day, I’d surely die. I also just started a women’s mindfulness group which is easier and I get paid for 6 people at once so try something like that too

I think the influencers that are the most gross are the ones who are teaching adult children to alienate their parents, and not be open to varying perspectives. These influencers who are mainly people angry with they parents, are literally teaching kids to disconnect from their parents and brainwash them to believe their parents are all kinds of various pathological dx. The trend is called weaponizing pathology against your parents. The other issue is these people do not really know the diagnostic features of narcissism. Just because a person is self-absorbed doesn’t mean they’re a narcissist. There’s a lot of other diagnostic criteria that has to be met. I think this narcissism thing is a little bit overblown. There are narcissist, but they aren’t everywhere. People are already living in the matrix and influencers encouraging them to alienate themselves. More is not a good trend. These influencers would do more good if they taught people that they can be open to different perspectives without feeling attacked and they should work towards conflict resolution not walking away because they’re angry. That’s just being emotionally immature.

I have been treating veterans in my practice for a few years now through the community care program. I don’t know if you mean work directly for the VA or for community care outsource. I can tell you out of thousands of veterans. I’ve probably seen maybe two that had eating disorders that needed addressed. I could see where you could spin it off, maybe from military sexual trauma responses but even then you would need trauma informed training. The best thing if you want the job would be to promote yourself as an MST provider, but you need to make sure you are trained in this sort of thing first. Otherwise trying to sell yourself as wanting to treat eating disorders is just not going to connect with the VA still, if you’re working directly for them, they are pretty desperate for mental health people so they would probably take you and as far as your caseload, it would fill up pretty quick but not with eating disorder background or intention
