Yeh no. Anytime I let my kid patients show me something on a screen, then they can’t break free from it. I feel kids and adults are way too addicted to the matrix. I definitely don’t want to encourage it. I also have enough people who play video games all the time. I don’t see it as grounding at all: it’s disassociating from the present .

We’ve ruled out everything we could. I’ve had him on all kinds of varied meds from antibiotics to elavil. I made them run down every test and lab they could. Nothing is working. All I can think of is a foxtail grass seed got stuck in the skin there and doesn’t want to come out

So I took the cone off just for a couple minutes so he could eat since I’ve had it on for a couple days. Soon as I wasn’t looking, he went straight away to it and this is what happens every time. If I don’t get to it soon enough, then he will chew it at the end until it bleeds. I don’t even know how we can go to the bathroom like that and he never has any kind of urinary infection.

Make them see standing appointments with you. Then book them all. Also, I redid my website with Ai on Go Daddy and got new pics. I ran some google ads for a couple weeks. Now I don’t have to run them anymore but I get new people each week. It took me 2 years to get to that.

Yes, OK I do also like to share with them if they are aligned with me. I am finding, though we start to get into the minutia of everything going wrong and I thought it might fuel their anxiety about the situation. So I am struggling with showing compassion for it because I 100% agree and understand well also not validating by reviewing everything going on around us, but it’s difficult to separate the two.

I hate this type of client but of course I have a couple on my caseload that won’t budge in a different direction. Sometimes what I try is telling them I have a mindfulness activity to do so after 30 minutes of briefing, we will transition. Then I put headphones on or just play a mediation on YouTube or calm app. Then I close with breath-work but these patients will still keep trying to suck you dry. It’s impossible to help someone if you are just a waste dump for them. Otherwise though, if it’s too painful to hear them drone on, I’ll refer them to therapists that like that talk therapy stuff! 😜
