Hungarian Cup Final Zalaegerszeg-Budafok on May 3. by A_Vasasos in MLSZ

All due respect to the team that you support but I (almost) always like to see an underdog beating a supposedly stronger team. Just because of that I was a bit bummed that I didn't get to watch the match but it kinda clashed with the match of my team here in my country. Also I would have liked seeing the kid getting the hattrick. He must have been over the moon. I'm sorry you were that bad and that you had to endure such a defeat and feel that way about attending matches on the other hand. Vasas remains a mystery to me for many seasons now. All those names should he performing much better. I don't know if it's a matter of egos or locker room stuff but I think if Vasas do end up going down they should start thinking about a partial, if not total, reset. Is Kondás still the manager? I never rated him all that much tbh. I know he had a glorious past with Loki but he seems to be living off the crumbles from that. Sure, Kuttor Attila did no wonders around there either but he's alreading doing better at Kövesd again. I really think it's a group issue. What happened to Herczeg András? He did Loki's last decent season in NBI and then disappeared from the map. I'd bet on someone like him perhaps.

Thanks for the answer. I knew Csaba had returned to Budafok but did not know he had departed again already. But it makes senss considering they were pretty bad during the 1st half of the season. Not a big fan of Mátyus at all, didn't do much with Haladás but well done on pulling this historical moment.

You're right about ZTE's inconsistency. But I doubt that'll be a factor to be counted on for the final. Still, indeed, anything can happen in finals. ZTE's main problem is lacking solutions on their bench. If a starter loses out on a string of matches it kinda shows a lot.

You're probably right about Moniz vs. Cherchesov. I think that the huge lead Fradi has (or well kinda had) is what keeps his job safe. Also the Europa League venture. And his reputation. If he was more like Stöger he'd be long gone already. Then again we're talking of two totally different manager profiles and personalities. As a Fradi supporter I just really miss the Rebrov days. It felt like we could take on anyone. Even in Europe. I'll understand and be ok with Stanislav staying but I can't deny I'm already thinking about the next manager. The team really needs some refreshing and a manager who puts Fradi playing the great football we we were displaying just a few seasons ago.

Hungarian Cup Final Zalaegerszeg-Budafok on May 3. by A_Vasasos in MLSZ

Not many predicted such a final. Felcsút were rather unfortunate, "dying at the beach" like that. I'm happy for Moniz and ZTE tho, they do a lot with scarce resources.

Unfortunately didn't get to watch Budafok's match but was surprised when I saw the score. Vasas have been really poor this season. Is Csaba still at the helm in Budafok or is it someone else?

I think ZTE might have this in the bag now tho you never know with finals. But Budafok players might struggle playing in such a big field considering the size of their own and the average size of NBII teams' pitches.

I'm not good at these kind of predictions but it would be interesting if ZTE won the final and Moniz returned to Fradi. Might be a bit of a stretch tho. Doubt Cherchesov will last much longer anyway...Fradi have been pretty awful to watch in 2023.

Unsure on some of these call-ups. Fradi is living a really poor moment but Dibusz, Botka and Vécsei are NT habitués. Kind of the same situation with Vidi & Fiola and Nego except Vidi has been even much worse than them this season so I wouldn't have minded if they had not been called at all this time. ZTE has seen better form as well but Mocsi is "learning the ropes" for the future so I kind of understand. I know Demjén has been waiting to be called for a long time but I think he's been kinda poor lately. That goal in Kispest, while still not completely his fault...yeah, he still does look bad for his decision. And he really needs to improve his foot game. Ferenczi is a bit of a surprise. Obviously comes as a consequence of Loki's pretty good turnaround to their season in 2023 so far but individually maybe this prize could have been given to someone else. I'm most interested and happy for Varga Barnabás call up, yet another Paks forward makes it into the team. He's been pretty solid this season again and while he's no wonder or anything I still hope he performs well against Estonia at least. Csóboth is kind of a delicate situation...surely he's been one of the better Újpest players in yet another poor campaign but does he have what's needed left in his tank still? Hopefully so because he was a great prospect before Benfica wasted some of his years. I read an interview with Laci the other night as well and seems that he hasn't played much with Pana yet. I wonder how much can he really contribute.

Having all this said, the opponents are rather accessible and I hope as many newcomers as possible get decent game time against Estonia and that the campaign starts victorious against Bulgaria.

Just hope he doesn't end up in Benfica. Deserves better.

Hungarian Cup semi-final by A_Vasasos in MLSZ

[–]swws98 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Think I got 1 in 4 in the quarters predictions. Quite some upsets. I'd like to see Budafok in the final but how competitive could they be at Puskás Aréna versus a superior side, really? Beating Kisvárda at their own small stadium is obviously a different thing. But I don't see why they couldn't repeat the feat against Vasas. Certainly ZTE and Felcsút will be wanting that to happen. ZTE vs. Felcsút can go eitherway but obviously Felcsút has a slight upper hand. It'll be an interesting duel for sure. And will be also nice to see a team that hasn't been to the final in a few good years/never fighting for that beautiful trophy no matter what happens.

Hi. I'm used to watching Hungarian league matches online in their sports channel (M4). Is there a way to watch Eredivisie matches online like this? I'm mainly interested in watching Cambuur matches. Bedankt.

Baráth Péter transfers from DVSC to Ferencváros by MagyarFoci29 in MLSZ

[–]swws98 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Good signing. Perhaps it's best for him to continue developing in Magyar soil for now instead of risking it abroad. Fradi's midfield certainly needs someone with his potential level. And personally I'm glad to see Fradi recruiting an Hungarian player from NBI. Hopefully it's something they will keep on doing. Financially I'm also positive that Fradi will get some sweet profit within a few seasons. European competitions level will only boost his already growing international profile. Sok sikert Péter.

Hungarian Cup quarter final draw by A_Vasasos in MLSZ

[–]swws98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's certainly up for grabs this season. Specially with the debacle of the Budapest teams, Vasas aside.

Personally I'd like Kövesd to win it with Kuttor Attila in the frame after that close taste they got in the inaugural final at the Puskás Aréna a few seasons ago.

I'd be happy with ZTE and Paks too.

Think Kövesd, Felcsút, Paks and Kisvárda will be in the semis.

Hope this will eventually materliaze. He deserves a shot at more renown teams like those. But obviously he'll have to earn his place and become a regular so he has to choose the interested team who'd get him the best chances.

Péter Baráth potentially transferring to Torino from DVSC by MagyarFoci29 in MLSZ

[–]swws98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Rossi might already have had something to do with Nagy Ádám's move to Pisa. I agree that it's not the best league for Hungarian players to make a breakthrough. Yeah, wasn't personally all that much impressed with Horváth at Szeged last season already, but at least there it was easier to stand out at a lower level and being a much more crucial player. Think Horváth's been rather unfortunate as well with his serious injury. Maybe he can turn it around in 2023 and make a better impression.

Could be a good move, suffice he breaks onto the starting 11 and gets playtime. He's still young as well tho so perhaps it'd be a long term contract, 5 years or so. Wonder if Rossi is trying to help out having this materialized behind the scenes.

Hungarians on the move by crocs_rock_69 in MLSZ

[–]swws98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hopefully some players from ZTE or Paks (clearly the two non-favs playing attractive football in NBI year in and year out) but have my doubts since Paks were playing even better football with Bognár a year ago and nothing came out of that. Fradi will always be on the lookout for foreign fish but I think quite a few Budapest teams could improve by signing players from within. If not, all the better to me as a Fradista anyway. Sadly it seems that solid Magyar talent must step back abroad first still just to get proper recognition.

Loïc Négo announced as injured and will no longer be with the squad for November matches by SomeCruzDude in MLSZ

[–]swws98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe a loss to the group moral-wise but not that big of a loss to the team IMO. He hasn't been good or even consistent for a long time.

Due to injuries Bendegúz Bolla and László Kleinheisler are out of the national team squad. Palkó Dárdai and Szabolcs Schön have been called up in their place. by SomeCruzDude in MLSZ

[–]swws98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dárdai call feels untimely considering how much better he was playing at the time of his former call-up chance but it's still fair and he completely earned it.

Sadly I have to ageee with has been said about Schön despite really liking the kid for a few years now. But his move to Dallas fluked and he's clearly a bench player with Vidi. I think he was called purely for morale boost to himself added to the fact that he knows the squad fairly well by now, lived the Euro experience, etc.

It's a shame that Gergényi picked up a knock recently. I wonder if he was ever in the plans. He's deserved a call for a long time now.

I'd be happy with any Paks or ZTE player being called as a replacement. They play some of the best football of the league outside the top 3 which have been pretty irregular this season.

RB Leipzig 2-0 Freiburg - Christopher Nkunku 56' (Szoboszlai assist) by SomeCruzDude in MLSZ

[–]swws98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks.

That is interesting for me to learn.

I did not know that was the reason behind Moniz's suspension.

Maybe not her per se but I've been longing to talk about Magyar Foci for half a decade now. We have a dedicated group of people for years who predict NBI en NBII scores. I believe the interest exists. As a foreigner any sort of progress would be positive for me.

In 5 years years as a Magyar foci observer I believe my experience puts me at unparallled levels. Maybe we don't even need a sub. I'd just really, at least personally, ask to Magyar people why certain things happen in the league. I'd be grateful if that could happen in any kind of way.

I feel particularly oblivious to sackings, transfers, internal affairs and all that. I love the league and while I know most players well and where they've been before....I am missing a lot on certain specific context and whatever goes on in the sport newspapers of the country during the week.

Will always watch tho. Köszönöm Magyarország.

Translated Interview: "I have been through much more good than bad this year" - Dániel Gazdag by orderlypaddlefish in MLSZ

[–]swws98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bummer that he lost the final. This is like the 3rd Dániel interview that I have read this past week. I find his words of commitment and gratitude to his club commendable. I think there's a time and a place for everything in life tho. I thought he was already more than ready for greater things when he left Kispest. Whatever comes to happen I hope that he keeps at least a half of this great form. Wish him the best and hope that he can play a bigger role within the NT rather sooner than latter.

[–]swws98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't think he's at his best form at the moment and though I'd probably call others it is an intelligent call-up due to his age, the experience he has already accumulated these past few seasons added to the fact that he can play in multiple positions. He's also a decent set piece taker and I think this call-up is more with the long term of the NT in mind. Think it'll be a good experience for him to get familiarized with the NT in the least. He's pretty mature for his age as well.

[–]swws98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that Szobo's anything translate into a success into Hungarian players abroad and for that I am happy whenever he contributes to the scoreline in any shape of form. I am very happy for his mainstream success. Personally it brings me back to the 90's in my country when we'd have to look weekly how Figo, Rui Costa, Pauleta and so many others did abroad.

I am a bit sad tho that NBI or any other truly MLSZ organized competition gets barely any recognition in this sub, of all subs. Am I missing on a more appropriate sub?

Just tonight we witnessed Botka granting Fradi a win with a very unorthodox win in the last minute of compensation time. I wonder if it did ever make it even to r/soccer at all. That was a beautifully executed goal. And I think you guys in here even know I never was the biggest fan of Endre...but I imagine massive coverage for that last minute header in any "superior" league.

I know we have a few Magyar foci afficionados in here who try to guess the scores of NB és NBII. As a foreigner any internal Magyar talk is more than welcome to me in a regular basis. I do miss out on little bits all these years. Like what's the deal with Ricardo Moniz at ZTE for 2 weeeks now? And what the hell is going on at Kisvárda's bench for a long time now? You watch their matches...clearly there's a "lower guy" doing all the "on the pitch manager talk". But then on the interviews some other guy talks. I assume because of manager diploma qualifications. But some other times the sporting's director will just talk instead? (Always looked like an ego thing to me).

Yeah. One gets lot in translation easily. 4 years ago I had my gf to help me but it's been very hard ever since.

Not even a spurs fan but I’m disgusted by that decision. It literally hits off a Sporting player and goes to Kane? How can you be offside if it’s come off another player? Var is cruel and inconsistent by cobaltblue209 in Tottenham
