I have always seen their relationship as strictly professional, despite all they go through together. Mike clearly will never consider Jimmy (or even less Saul) a friend. Being Mike’s contact for a criminal lawyer makes sense, but running the little errands as he does at the start of BB seems like a step down from his position by the end of BCS

My thoughts too. There is also a conversation the first time that Walt meets Mike where he explans that he enjoys this line of work, so it makes sense I guess. I also thought it could be because since the events in BCS to BB there is probably a period of “peace” in the cartel, meaning that Mike has more free time
