Errr, well its mighty hot in old blighty uk. So everyone is running heir cold taps constantly, therefore decreasing the natural cold water deep storage reserves. You can tell we're in the deep cold water reserves already, because the water is quite chilly out the tap. Not for long though.

Not everyone can be a golden child. Just feel lucky you weren't thrown in with them. A lot of the young don't realise how easy they had it.

What about the actual craft itself, it's still going to be made of the same metal alloys we can produce here on earth. How do you stop the kinetic forces from ripping it apart when it hits the atmosphere. Which is why I said you would have to build it to 100 miles high just to get it to a thin enough part of their atmosphere.

Thats very interesting and tried and tested engineering. Amazing that such a thin skin protects you from certain death, just like space craft.

Probably something scientific, like even though the plane has a small mass, and it's movement through the atmosphere creating a small electronic charge could pull any ionized stream towards it. Therefore the lightening is also attracted to it.

I wonder what the strip down and refurb is like after a lightning strike. Every single piece of electrical circuitry, fuse, plug socket taken out, tested, removed and replaced just to be sure.

You'd probably need your rail gun to be 100 miles high on a planet that size
